Pirelli and
Ferrari are together again for a new adventure, after last
year's 15,000 mile China tour comes the Panamerican
20,000 tour created by Maranello and now underway with two
599 GTB Fioranos and which is set to end in mid-November in
the United States. Pirelli is supplying three types of tyres
suited to all weather conditions: the new generation P Zero
for road use, the Winter 240 Sottozero for snow-covered
surfaces and tyres with special tread compounds for loose
sections of the route. The sizes being used are 245/40 R19
front and 305/35 R20 rear.
The Ferrari
coupés are being driven by 50 journalists from all over the
world and they will alternate at the wheel along the 20,000
miles between Belo Horizonte, the start, and New York, the
end of the tour. Three months rediscovering the Americas
through 16 countries from south to north, from the Atlantic
to the Pacific Ocean, by cutting edge Italian technology.
Pirelli are accompanying Ferrari with a tyre of completely new
ad hoc development for Maranello. The product, still under
development, will become the top of the P Zero collection,
the family of ultra-high performance tyres by Pirelli. This
latest generation P Zero, which will be launched in 2007, is
the essence of Pirelli's avant-garde technology, comprising
a new structure and materials.

The Ferrari Panamerican 20,000 tour is the very latest
adventure in a long history of successes that have seen
Pirelli and Ferrari, both true symbols of Italian automotive
excellence, working together. And not only for the supply of
original equipment tyres, but also in the arena of motor
racing: from the Formula One World Championships won for
Ferrari by Alberto Ascari in the early Fifties to the
victory of the F430GT, which recently dominated the GT2
class during the 24 Hours of Spa.
A collaboration that has always been rich in innovative
stimulation: it is no coincidence that the first of the P
Zero family, which has been confirmed as the preferred tyre
of the most demanding motorists, was created in 1987 for the
Ferrari F40.
