From the beginning of this month
the Fiat Ulysse MPV has become available on the Italian
market with a new 120bhp 2.0-litre Multijet turbodiesel
engine coupled up to a six-speed
transmission, which replaces the current 109 bhp 2.0-litre unit.
The Fiat Ulysse is part of a long-term 'multi-purpose
vehicle' and light commercial vehicle joint venture project
that Fiat Auto undertakes with the Peugeot-Citroën PSA
automotive group. The
Ulysse MPV programme also spawns the Lancia Phedra, Peugeot 807
and Citroën C8 ranges. The powerplants and mechanicals of
the vehicles are
engineered by the French carmaker, and the new 1997cc
4-cylinder common-rail turbodiesel is thus christened with
the 'Multijet' tag by Fiat.
With a power output of 120 bhp at 4,000 rpm, and maximum
torque of 300 Nm at 2,000 rpm, it seamlessly replaces the
MPV range's existing 109bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel unit,
slotting in just below the larger 2.2-litre version. This
new engine is fully compliant with Euro 4 emission
regulations. The combination is also now available with a
six-speed gearbox.
