The two
millionth Fiat Palio has been produced in the Fiat Automòveis
factory located at Betim in Brazil. The model to notch up
this significant production milestone as it rolled off the
assembly lines at Betim was a Palio ELX 1.4 and it also
belongs to the special “30 year” series with which Fiat Automòveis
- the successful Brazilian arm of the Fiat Auto Division -
is celebrating the three decades of car making of the Brazilian
plant.
This is an
important achievement for a model that began to gain world
public and critical acclaim right from its launch under the
title of the 'World Car' project. The
result of the modernity of the whole 178 immediately brought
new standards to the segment and made it a benchmark for
safety, performance, styling, quality, equipment and
advantageous price/content ratio. Last year the whole Palio
model range was facelifted by Fiat Automòveis, the new
version immediately identifiable by its larger wrap-around
headlights and new grille.

including Rumania, Croatia, Morocco, Russia, Vietnam, India,
Egypt and China.
It should also
be pointed out that it is the entire 178 family - Fiat Palio,
Palio Weekend, Siena and Strada – that has enjoyed
international success as is demonstrated by the almost 3 and
a half million units sold all over the world.
