The 'Model Year 2007' Brazilian Fiat
Mille family, which also includes the Fiorino and Uno
Van in its line up, is now on sale at Fiat dealerships
across the South American country. In relation to the
existing Mille model, the 1.0-litre engine has seen some
modifications made of it to fulfill the new levels of
Brazilian environmental legislation demanded for next
year. Moreover it now also comes with a four year
guarantee against corrosion.
The popular Fiat Mille 1.0
Flex was launched at the end of 2005 onto the
Brazilian market, as Fiat Automòveis looked cash
in on the growing demand amongst national car buyers for
"dual fuel" vehicles; so rolling the option
out to their popular and highly cost-effective,
entry-level model was a logical step. The Mille
1.0 Flex uses the SFS (Software Flexfuel Sensor)
technology which has been developed and is
manufactured by a Fiat Group company, Magneti
Marelli, who dominate the South American
market for flexible fuel systems.
The SFS sensor allows for
automatic adjustment of the mixture of air and
fuel, and the fuel can range from pure gasoline
with a 22 percent alcohol content (stock
gasoline in Brazil is made up of 22 percent
alcohol) up to a 100 percent pure alcohol
content. The flexible arrangement allows any
combination of gasoline or alcohol to be added
at any point, with the SFS technology allowing
the engine to automatically respond as required.
