13.07.2006 SUPPLIER STRIKE HITS FIAT AUTO'S PRODUCTION THIS WEEK

Industrial action by staff at the Brescia-based automotive rubber compound component supplier CF Gomma this week has severely affected Fiat Auto's production output at several major plants including Mirafiori, Pomigliano d'Arco and Sevel Val di Sangro, halting the production of a diverse range of models including the Fiat Grande Punto and Idea; the Alfa Romeo 159 and 159 Sportwagon; and Lancia Ypsilon and Musa.

Headquartered in Brescia, Northern Italy, the CF Gomma Group employs 5,000 staff at 11 plants in Italy, Poland, France, Germany the US, Brazil and Turkey. It's operations have been affected by a strike which was called on 3rd July over restructuring proposals involving the plants in France and Poland, the industrial action beginning on Tuesday (11th July), a day ahead of a French court's expected ruling on the plans.

CF Gomma Group is one of the leading European suppliers of components for the automotive sector, both passenger cars and commercial vehicles, and for the "industry" sector in general. Their automotive products include anti-vibration components, air springs, brake loses and low pressure hoses, technical mouldings (boots and precision rubber items), torsional dampers and car body sealings.
