The
cockpit of the Sportiva Latina is a capsule, separate from the chassis |
Orthogonal
sketches of the final design were drafted, before the design
was
programmed into CAD |

The
Sportiva Latina was not designed around a specific brand, the question
mark representing the independent project message |

The
interior of the Sportiva Latina combines tradition with modernism. It is
not a
retro effort, rather an interpretation of the classic Italian Gran
Turismo theme |

Driver
comfort and safety were key elements of the project, with a
particular focus on an automated eye positioning system |
Steering

Design
students assisted in the design of the Sportiva Latina, particularly
in
the interior |
Fabio
Ferrante and Daniele Petruccio were responsible for seats and controls |

CAD
and CAE (Computer aided Design & Engineering) were used from the
very
start of the project, in the development of the chassis |
The
engineers researched different materials for the chassis, striving to find
the best multi-material combination for strength, weight and crash
resistance |

Topological
optimization was used to define the ultimate shape and thickness
of
components under certain given constraints. Computers automatically
calculate the ideal shapes. |
Aluminium,
Titanium, and Carbon-Fibre were decided upon for different chassis
members. Two different methods were used to create the Carbon-Fibre
members. |
