The new Alfa
Brera will be the
absolute star, when the biggest ever gathering of Alfa
Romeos in Hungary takes place tomorrow in front of
the country’s most imposing church located in Esztergom.
The 1st of April this year will the date when Hungarian Alfisti
make their way with their dazzling array of Alfa Romeos
- from truly historic to to the most modern - to what is
expected to be the biggest meeting of the brand in this
Eastern European nation thus far.
This will be no ordinary gathering though, because it will
take place in front of Hungary’s most imposing and famous church, in Esztergom.
Organised by Alfa Amore, the on-line home of Alfa Romeo
enthusiasts' in Hungary, last year's event at the same
location saw more than 250
cars, and approximately 800 members attending. This year, Alfa Amore hope, more
than 350 cars will turn up for the year's opening
meeting.
If the numbers are as is expected tomorrow this event will be the
biggest Hungarian Alfa Romeo meeting ever staged, and moreover, it will be the
biggest Hungarian automotive brand meeting ever, a real
indication of the unrivalled passion that the Milanese brand
stirs in this country.
"In spite of the large numbers attending though, this will
be a familiar meeting, where owners and enthusiasts alike
will be able to make new friendships," says
Zsolt Halápi. "During
April most of the Alfa Romeo owners' in Hungary
put their alloy wheels back on, wash the dirt of the winter away to reveal their
shiny cars, and Saturday will be a great opportunity to show their cars to each other,"
he adds.
"The organizer, Alfa Amore, is the on-line home of Hungarian Alfisti.
On this site the
main topics revolve around Alfa Romeos in Hungary, the fascination of these cars
and driving them. All inquires will find facts about the Alfa Romeo's history, news, models, and
technical data. Our
members, visitors and registered users, are generally between 18 and 40 years of
age who are Alfa Romeo
owners', or want to buy an Alfa Romeo. We have more that 700 members now and
more than 600 registered users. Most of them are active users, so they regularly
use the website’s services.
"This will be our 6th meeting at Esztergom, an unrivalled
location which we are really fortunate to be able to secure,
and our events there have recently raised the Hungarian media's
curiosity too.

"In 2003 Hungary’s authoritative television car magazine
“Totalcar” arrived and presented an interesting report, as
did the national network, Hungarian Television (MTV). This
year a TV crew is set to film a brand-new document during the meeting about Alfisti
here, and Hungarian Television will be back to file a
television report once again," says Zolt.
In the last couple of years, the Alfa GT Coupé and Alfa
Crosswagon Q4 have both made their national debuts during this high profile meeting,
and this year it will be the turn of the Alfa Brera to be the
event's star. The Giorgetto Giugiaro-styled Alfa Brera is
the most exciting sportscar to emerge from Alfa Romeo's
factories for a good number of years, and it has created a
stir wherever it has appeared. Tomorrow it is expected to
excited the crowds who will be seeing it in Hungary for the
first time
"Every year we arrange slalom and navigation races during
the day," says Zolt. "This April's meeting will see us hold
the navigation race once again, so the city will be full of Alfa
Romeos during the day. We hope that more than one hundred Alfa Romeos will take part of this race,
bringing the sight and sounds of these wonderful cars to the
city's streets. This year there will also be a new
competition to test Alfisti knowledge on the marque's history and
news, while there will be prizes for the concours winners'. During the meeting
all visitors will be able to vote for the most beautiful
Alfa Romeo present. We will have prizes for the youngest and the eldest Alfas
and drivers also. For the children we will arrange
activities including a drawing competition," he concludes.
