2006 BOLOGNA MOTOR SHOW2006 BOLOGNA MOTOR SHOW

28.11.2006 BOLOGNA MOTOR SHOW PREVIEW - ALFA ROMEO

Alfa Romeo will present its full range at the Bologna Motor Show next week, confirming the brand’s unique position in the world automotive market. The stand will be a striking display area where volumes closed on one side contrast with the aluminium and glass sun-screens at the front, representing elements that define the concept of the Alfa Romeo ‘villa’ by the canons of Italian rationalist architecture. Translated into shapes, colours and materials, the severe, essential architectural design provides the ideal setting for the sinuous, aggressive styling of the cars, making them the absolute protagonists: the whole stand will be dominated by red and black, which have always expressed the duality of Alfa Romeo: a blend of passion and technology.

The heart of the display area will be an elegant showcase containing the Alfa 8C Competizione, as if it were a jewel, a precious object to admire and desire. Designed by Alfa Romeo and produced in a limited number, this exclusive GT epitomises the values that the brand has always been known for: technology and excitement.

The second focus of the stand will be the Alfa GT and Alfa 147 with the ‘Q2’ self-locking front differential, which enhances all the strong points of front wheel drive in terms of active safety, increasing the entertainment and sense of control. The innovative system guarantees advantages that are typical of a front-wheel drive, but with a decidedly lower weight and cost. Proposed on the stand in the lavish Exclusive specification, are an Alfa 159 2.2 Selespeed (which was recently awarded the prestigious Euro NCAP 5-star rating) and an Alfa 159 Sportwagon with 200 bhp 2.4 JTDM engine, combined with the new ‘Q-Tronic’ 6-speed gearbox with automatic or sequential operation.

ALFA 8C COMPETIZIONE

The heart of the display area will be an elegant showcase containing the Alfa 8C Competizione, as if it were a jewel, a precious object to admire and desire.

The spotlights of the Show will also be on two more cars from the new Alfa Romeo generation: the Alfa Brera, a really attractive car that transforms the traditional spirit of the coupé into the more exciting spirit of ‘absolute sportiness’; and the Alfa Spider, which recalls Alfa Romeo’s glorious tradition in this field with a complex, refined game of allusions. The Bologna public will be able to also admire a 185 bhp Alfa Spider 2.2 JTS and an Alfa Brera 3.2 V6 Q4 with automatic transmission, both with the top of the range specification.

On the stand will also be two Alfa 147s, from the ‘Black Line’ and ‘Collezione’ Special series. The first will be equipped with a 120 bhp 1.6 litre engine and sports the characteristic two-tone livery and all the stylistic and mechanical elements that make it the perfect synthesis of sportiness and style. The second Alfa 147, in the ‘Collezione’ version, will be equipped with the sparkling 120 bhp 1.9 JTDM engine, and has refined leather upholstery (two-tone for the seats and facia) and a wide array of standard equipment. The elegant display will conclude with an Alfa GT ‘Collezione’ equipped with a 1.9 JTDM engine and ‘dressed’ with sophisticated black bodywork and black and cream interior upholstery. And finally, behind the beautiful showcase will be the Alfa Romeo building that houses the offices, the Alfa Café and a special ‘lounge’ created with Radio Montecarlo, all designed to express the same stylistic refinement and state-of-the-art technology.
