06.11.2006 LIMITED EDITION MASERATI MC VICTORY MAKES ITS AUSTRALASIAN DEBUT AT THE SYDNEY MOTOR SHOW

Maserati has used the Australian International Motor Show to herald the Australasian arrival of its latest model, the limited edition GranSport MC Victory, following its official debut in Geneva in March. Of the 180 cars to be built, all of which are finished in Maserati racing blue, just five are destined for the combined Australian and New Zealand markets.

The MC (Manufacturers’ Cup) Victory was designed to celebrate Maserati’s success in lifting the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers’ crown with the MC12. In the last month, the Trident has added the 2006 Team and Drivers’ titles, having scored five wins (at Silverstone, Oschersleben, the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, Paul Ricard and Adria), eight podium finishes, and one pole position so far this year. The MC Victory draws on styling touches drawn from the MC12, including its aerodynamic, blue carbon fibre front and rear spoilers, and Italian flag embedded on the front fenders. The interior has also received a revamp, featuring extensive use of blue carbon fibre, plus a selection of leathers and Alcantara trim, which is to be found on the upper dashboard, door panels, seats, and steering wheel. Dynamically, the MC Victory retains the 400bhp 4.2 V8 of the standard GranSport, but aerodynamic tweaks to the front splitter and more precise steering sharpen the overall driving experience. The MC Victory retails at A$272,500, but all five examples allocated to Australia and New Zealand are pre-sold.

MASERATI MC VICTORY

Maserati has used the Australian International Motor Show to herald the Australasian arrival of its latest model, the limited edition GranSport MC Victory, following its official debut in Geneva in March.

The MC Victory is joined in the Maserati display by two normal GranSport models: a coupe in Nero Carbonio, plus a Spyder in Rosso Mondiale. The display is rounded out by a couple of Quattroportes – one standard model, and one Sport GT.

With sales having jumped by 50% since distribution of the marque, along with Ferrari, was taken over by European Automotive Imports twelve months ago, and plans to upgrade dealers and service levels well underway, Maserati’s recent development has indeed been impressive. Moreover, this recent impressive growth looks set to only be augmented further by the launch of the Coupe and Spyder replacements next year, which should help to further advance Maserati’s reputation as a major player at the top end of the market.
