26.04.2006 Neville Crichton and Alfa Romeo have dominated the maxi class in their first European regatta of the season

Neville Crichton and Alfa Romeo have dominated the maxi class in their first European regatta of the season with the New Zealand super maxi taking four race wins out of five races to take the Maxi Class in the Hublot PalmaVela held in Spain at the weekend (21-23 April 2006).

Alfa Romeo proved once again it is the fastest yacht on the final day with a comfortable win over more than 200 yachts taking part in the final race of the regatta. The big boats sailed a 35 mile coastal course which Alfa Romeo completed in 3 hours 43 minutes with a substantial margin advantage over the rest of the fleet. Second place, after applying the corrected times, was for Luca Bassani's Tiketitan, the only boat that has been able to beat Alfa Romeo in one race in Palma.
