On Tuesday the
Ferrari 60 Relay arrived in the birthplace of the
Olympic Games: Greece. The location of the Relay's departure
in the capital was of an immense visual impact: The Olympic
stadium with its avant-garde structure by the architect
Santiago Calatrava; which reflected the correspondence
between the Ferrari 60 Relay, the relay of the Olympic flame
and technical research and development.
Approximately 40 customers and their cars and families
attended the event in this splendid frame to pass an
unforgettable day, celebrating the anniversary of Ferrari,
but also to honour tradition and culture of this magnificent
country in the Mediterranean region. The departure of the
cars participating in the Relay took place in the presence
of the Italian ambassador Gianpaolo Scarante, who also
received the gift for the charity auction in Maranello.
After the cars passed the city of Lavrio in the Attica
region and where the mayor honoured the Tour and its cars,
the convoy moved on to the famous Temple of Poseidon at Cape
Sounio. After the members of the Tour and the customers had
admired the splendid ancient ruins from the Dorian period,
the staff and the customers had lunch before returning to
Athens.
Two more stops for the Tour before members and customers
took part in event in the evening, while later on the
suggestive acropolis was the perfect backdrop for an
unforgettable gala with terrific fireworks. The following
day the Tour left in the direction of Mycenae, the famous
antique city, which had its most important period during the
classical period. Eventually the cars arrived in Argo, which
is know for the numerous legends related to its city wall.
Tour sponsor Shell had also organised numerous events for
the customers.
The Tour now
moves onto Russia today for the start of a two-day programme
before moving onto Finland (29th-30th), Sweden (2nd-4th
May), Germany (7th-10th), Switzerland (12th-13th), Austria
(14th-15th), Czech Republic (16th), Hungary (17th-18th) and

Turkey (25th) will wrap up the European-wide leg up before
the Tour briefly heads for the Lebanon and Egypt, returning
to Italy (30th) to start a month long celebratory journey
round Ferrari's home nation, culminating in a three-day long
celebration event at its hometown, Maranello (23rd-25th
May).
Ferrari is
celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2007 with a major event
from June 21st to June 24th in Maranello, Italy. Maranello
will be the finish line in a "relay race" across five
continents where participants will carry a baton embossed
with symbols of the 60 greatest moments in the company's
history. The central theme of the final events in Italy is
technological innovation pioneered by Ferrari in the 60
years of its existence. For the occasion, Ferrari is
assembling its 60 most important innovations, ranging from
aluminium pliers for disc brakes to the electric
differential and the F1 gearbox.
Against this backdrop Ferrari has organized its first
concours d'élégance: a series of events on the track, at the
factory and at the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello celebrating
the elegance of the Ferrari. An Opera Omnia book will be
published on the company's history, a collection of pictures
and data on all the road cars and race cars built by
Ferrari. The baton for the Ferrari 60 Relay was specially
created to symbolise the history of the company, from its
first success at the Rome Grand Prix of 1947 to the Ferrari
FXX of 2006. Our clients are carrying the baton around the
world in their cars.
