The Chalet
Fiat concept at the prestigious Alpine ski resort
Madonna di Campiglio, another fresh marketing initiative
that aims to give the Fiat brand a fashionable lifestyle
edge and connect with car buyer, has enjoyed a busy winter.
Madonna di Campiglio is a discreet and elegant town nestling
at an altitude of 1550 metres in the stupendous valley
between the Brenta Dolomites and the glaciers of Adamello
and Presanella, is and today most certainly Italy’s number
one ski resort as well as one of the most important resorts
in the Alps.
Madonna di Campiglio has a strong connection with Fiat, the
winter sports Fiat Freestyle Team have been in action this
season in the resort, while Fiat Group-owned Scuderia
Ferrari holds its annual press-ski meeting "Vrooom" at the
resort, a location also chosen by Ducati Corse for a similar
event. As well as the Fiat branded Chalet Fiat
initiative, several innovative and unique Fiat vehicles have
been used in the high altitude ice conditions. These include the
huge Iveco-based "Oltre Fiat" four-wheel-drive showcar first
shown at the Bologna Motor Show in 2005, and the special
show-tracked
Panda which was unveiled at Ferrari's Vrooom 2007 in January
and has been seen with the Fiat Freestyle Team during their
programme of extreme 'winter sports' events this year.
The variety of the mountains at Madonna di Campiglio and its
surroundings mean that in winter it is possible to ski over
countless kilometres of runs, up to an altitude of 2,600
metres and with different degrees of difficulty.

What’s
more, the skier can set out from the centre of the town and
return there without ever removing their skis. Today the Ski
Area can boast 57 lifts and 150 km of ski runs, with a
capacity of more than 31,000 people per hour, 50,000 sq m of
snow park, 40 km for Nordic skiing and there are plans to
link up to the pistes in Pinzolo (since it is already
possible to ski the link to Folgarida and Marilleva).
While Madonna di Campiglio, which was launched as a tourist
resort in the second half of the last century, is famous for
its high life, just a short way out of town there is a
plethora of lakes, valleys, streams, malghe (alpine
shepherds’ huts) and refuges. The fifty thousand hectares of
the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park, together with four hundred
and fifty km of mountain paths offer incredible
opportunities for those wishing to walk or mountain bike
through the cool fir woods and enchanting larch forests.
