Fiat Automóveis was
once again the brand leader in the Brazilian
new automobile market during July, with 54,533 passenger cars and light
commercial vehicles being sold in that period, a
performance which corresponds
to them grabbing an impressive 26.4 percent share of the market.
With this latest excellent result, Fiat’s
leadership of the burgeoning Brazilian new car market,
where it has been the top-seller ever since January, grows still stronger. From the
beginning of this year up to the end of July Fiat has sold 320,188
vehicles in Brazil, which equates to a 25.9 percent
share of the market, and a year-on-year growth of 32.3
percent in relation to the first seven months of last year;
meanwhile the Brazilian market has registered a rise of 26.6
percent, which is well below the Italian brand's
performance, during the
same period.
The difference
in sales so far this year compared to the second positioned brand in the ranking of
new sales
is superior to the tune of 32,600 units. Besides this, Fiat
has also achieved
a new historical record of sales, with a production volume
never reached in Brazil before during a seven
consecutive month period since the begging of its operation
in the most populous Latin American country back in 1976,
397,063 units. The accumulated exports since January adds
some 62,629
more vehicles, and turns in a growth of 7.8 percent compared to the same period
of 2006.
The Palio family
of cost-effective, robust models kept up its great success of sales,
and in fact just the Palio hatchback's total number of sales since the beginning of the year
arrives at an amount of 119,699 units, a sharp growth of 51
percent,
compared to the same period of 2006.
