Andrew
Humberstone has been appointed managing director of Fiat
Group Automobiles UK Ltd and will take up his new role
on Thursday 1 November.
Forty three-year-old Mr Humberstone brings with him a
high level of commercial experience in addition to
business development management, gained from across the
globe. His knowledge and understanding of drawing up and
implementing top-level business strategies puts him in
an ideal position to continue the current success story
for Fiat in the UK. And he comes to Britain at a
particularly exciting moment – just as the company makes
final preparations to launch the stunning new Fiat 500
here.
Mr Humberstone’s
most recent role was chief representative for Fiat Group
Automobiles China and vice-chairman of Nanjing Fiat, but,
prior to that, he worked in various capacities in India,
United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and South Africa.
“I’m looking
forward to the challenges ahead for us in the UK,” says Mr
Humberstone. “The company has been left in an excellent
condition as I take over, and I am determined to carry on the good work that has already been done.”
Mr Humberstone
takes over from outgoing MD Giulio Salomone, who is leaving
the UK company after two-and-a-half years in charge. Mr
Salomone’s period in office brought great success to the UK
operation, including the high-profile introduction of
several new cars such as the Grande Punto, Bravo and Sedici
SUV, as well as the forthcoming 500, while sales figures
climbed rapidly under his leadership – up 64 per cent
year-on-year to 58,831 units in 2006; making Fiat Group
Automobiles UK Ltd the fastest growing automotive brand in
the UK last year. Mr Salomone returns to company
headquarters in Turin, Italy, where he will take over
responsibility for Fiat brand Worldwide Dealer Network
Development, Fleet and Used Cars operations, reporting
directly to Lorenzo Sistino, CEO of the Fiat brand.
