As
Poland's top car producer, Fiat Auto Poland
has built
283,013 cars since the beginning of this year, up 20.1
percent year-on-year,
including 36,905 units in October alone, a rise of 37.7
percent. |

In October,
Poland's car and van output reached 80,698 units
combined, rising by 13.8 percent from that achieved last year. Over the
January-October period, the supply totalled 640,305, a
7.5 pct improvement year-over-year. On a cumulative basis, Poland's car
output rose by 8.5 pct for the year-to-date, reaching 551,518
units.
As the country's top car producer, Fiat Auto Poland built
283,013 cars since the beginning of the year (up 20.1 pct),
including 36,905 in October alone (+37.7%). Crucially, the
company's Tychy plant made more than 40,500 copies of the
500 supermini, outpacing the Seicento with 33,100 units. The
Panda continues to dominate Polish production although its
huge lead is expected to be severely reduced next year.
Fiat led the pace ahead of Opel Polska (151,600/-4.7 pct),
Volkswagen Poznan (61,700/-17.3 pct), FSO (55,200/+42
pct), and
Intrall (35/-78.5 pct). Interestingly, a mere 3 pct of Polish-made cars were sold
locally (16,396), while the remaining 97 pct (535,130) were
exported (2006: 3.65 pct vs 96.35 pct).
In the meantime, Poland's van output
reached 88,787 units in the year-to-date, rising by 1.3 pct
year-over-year. As the top van maker in Poland,
Volkswagen Poznan led the way with 75,570 vehicles (+21 pct),
followed by Fiat Auto Poland (13,144/-45.3 pct) and Intrall
(73/-93.9 pct). Polish-made vans sold locally accounted for
5.1 pct of the
overall supply, falling from the year-ago level of 7.5 pct.
