The new Punto added a further 3,414 units to its total sales which now stands at 10,127 since it arrived in the Brazilian showrooms in mid September.

The Brazilian market for cars and light commercial vehicles, up to the end of November, confirms this year as the best period of the history of Fiat in the country, with new production and sales records. During the first eleven months of the year, Fiat sold 548,658 vehicles, and that assures the brand the absolute leadership of the Brazilian market, with 26 percent of all sales and 31.6 percent of growth compared to the same period last year.

During November, Fiat sold 59,234 cars and light commercial vehicles. The difference in terms of sales compared to the second brand in the rankings, Volkswagen (486,018 units), for the year to date now stands at more than 60,000 units. GM (449,434) and Ford (223,581) were the market's third and fourth biggest brands. The data revealed once again historical records of Fiat sales, and for the overall Brazilian automobile industry, both in sales and in production.

From January up to the end of November, Fiat’s Brazilian production came to 664,616 units, meaning a jump of 28.5 percent over the volume accomplished during the same period of last year. The volume exported during the year-to-date reached 94,683 units, a growth of 6.3 percent over the same period of 2006.

Fiat's best selling model in Brazil last month was the Palio (19,975 units), and it was second highest seller on the market overall behind the VW Golf (23,296). For the year-to-date the Palio has racked up 201,903 sales compared to the Gol's 218,739. The market's entry-level car of choice in November was - as usual - the Uno-based Mille (12,047); it was the third highest seller and it now has 116,339 units YTD. With the facelift model now arriving in the showrooms the Siena (8,757) was 7th in November and it now has 79,821 YTD. The new Punto added a further 3,414 units to its total sales which now stands at 10,127 since it arrived in the Brazilian showrooms in mid September. Other Fiat models to find buyers in Brazil last month include the Idea (3,247), Palio Weekend (1,586), Stilo (1,335) and Doblo (625).
