The famous Modenese
sportscar maker, Maserati, has just participated in this
year's well-known motoring extravaganza held in the streets
of its home city.
The 8th 'Modena, Terra di Motori' (Modena, Land of Engines)
attracted many automotive enthusiasts to the Italian capital of sporting
automobiles. On display were numerous models that have made
Modena a household name around the world.
Two Quattroportes (the new Automatic and DuoSelect
versions), a 1953 Berlinetta Pininfarina A6GCS, an MC12
Versione Corse and the latest Trident gem, the Maserati
GranTurismo, were all on display at the Largo Sant’Agostino.
This was the ideal occasion in which to present the star of
the recent Geneva Motor Show officially to the city of Modena.
Largo Sant’Agostino took on a new look during the two
exhibition days as it welcomed hundreds of curious
onlookers. They had come to especially admire the
GranTurismo, that has generated so many positive reviews of
late.
Despite the uncertain weather, the elegant and aggressive
lines of the Maseratis were clear for all to see. At once
authentic and innovative, their styling is simply unique.
Some of the very latest supercars
manufactured by Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini as well as vintage models were
on show in the evocative squares and streets in the centre of Modena during the
event. The programme has been spread over two weekends, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May
saw the "Modena Historic Challenge" historical cars
race as well as the town centre car parade. Then Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May "Mostra scambio Città di
Modena" took place were it was
possible to buy and sell cars, motorbikes, car accessories and vintage spare
parts.

Modena's famous historic carmaker, Maserati, took
centre stage as the 8th "Modena, Terra di Motori"
extravaganza attracted many automotive enthusiasts' to the Italian capital of
exclusive sports cars. |

The famous streets of Modena, which have their beginnings in the 900s,
have made way for new, more rapid and heavily-trafficked streets but the old
passion of this land for the charm of speed and custom-built cars
has remained unchanged.
Modena is considered the true and unique automotive capital of Italy.
Here were born prestigious automobiles such as the Ferrari,
Maserati, and De Tomaso. A short distance from
its historic centre, in Largo Garibaldi, there is the famous monument dedicated to Enzo Ferrari who resided nearby.
A few steps just around the corner visitors find themselves in Viale Trento
Trieste, headquarters of the first Ferrari office in the
1930s. Proceeding in the opposite direction is the Viale Ciro
Menotti where the historic Maserati factory is still very visible today. The link between this city and
the world of motors is solidly reinforced by prestigious demonstrations
that periodically take place in the centre - such as this month's 8th edition of
the 'Modena, Terra di Motori' - and by the presence of
two private museums (Stanguellini and
Panini) dedicated to the most exclusive of automobiles. The Modenese area then
takes on mythical surroundings when the visitor stops in the 1700s Via Giardini in the direction of Maranello.
