Maserati North America continues to have an extraordinary year after posting a
second consecutive record setting month in May. Maserati retailed 252 units, up
10 percent over a strong May 2006 and a Year-to-Date overall sales increase of 13
percent.
The Maserati
Quattroporte Automatic continues to bring new clients to the
Trident as
sales of the four door sport sedan are up 41 percent over May 2006. Year-to-Date sales
of the Quattroporte up a solid 34 percent. The Quattroporte Automatic, which was
premiered at the North American International Auto Show in
Detroit during January, is expected to account for the bulk
of US and worldwide deliveries of the four-door luxury
model.
The North Eastern region posted strong results with Maserati of Long Island
leading the country for sales for the month of May and Maserati Newport Beach
claiming the top spot for YTD sales. The growth of Maserati in North America is
supported by other important milestones which were passed in
May such as the 4000th Maserati Quattroporte to be retailed
in North America since the introduction of the timeless and
elegant sedan. Also, the brand welcomed its 50th dealer
into the fold - Maserati of Sacramento. Meanwhile Maserati North America is expanding the
dealer network through 2007 in anticipation of the new GranTurismo arriving in
the fourth quarter.

The GranTurismo
is a new 2-door coupé fitted with 4.2-litre V8 engine, and
replaces the GranSport in the brand's model line-up. The new
GranTurismo made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in
March 2007 and since then the Pininfarina-designed sportscar
has been seen for the first time on North American shores on
the occasion of the New York International Auto Show in
April. It has appeared at the Shanghai Auto Show and at the
end of this month it will make its dynamic driving debut at
the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Deliveries will get underway
later this year.
There has also
been widespread media discussion on both sides of the
Atlantic in recent weeks suggesting that proposals for
Maserati North America to provide its logistical and dealer
network to support the reintroduction of the Alfa Romeo
brand to North America in 2009 have been finalised. Maserati North America,
Inc., headquartered in Englewood Cliffs, N.J., is the exclusive distributor for
Maserati-branded vehicles in the United States.
