IVECO MASSIF

Iveco will be making its presence felt with a major product thrust at the Amsterdam RAI European Road Transport Show, led out by the international debut of the Massif, the heir to the Fiat Campagnola.

IVECO MASSIF

The Massif was this summer part of a team of Iveco vehicles that supported the 100 anniversary journey of the Itala which in 1907 won the legendary Peking to Paris motor car race.

The Overland-organised expedition left Paris on July 20th and travelled 14,000 kilometres through 11 countries before arriving in Beijing

Iveco will be making its presence felt with a major product thrust at the Amsterdam RAI European Road Transport Show opening on the 25th of October. On the one hand this focuses on the technological innovations of alternative propulsion, while on the other moving to complete its range of light off-road models with the international debut of the Massif, the heir to the historic and prestigious Fiat Campagnola.

The Iveco stand concentrates on technological excellence at the service of the client’s productivity, not just through containing operating costs but also by improving performance through the application of new technical solutions. In this context Iveco regards environmental protection as one of the fundamental aspects of its product development, especially in relation to CO2 emission. Hence its focus on Diesel-electric parallel hybrid technology, with prototypes of the Daily and the Eurocargo Hybrid on display at RAI in the colours of two major clients, FedEx and TNT.

Iveco is working with FedEx and TNT on perfecting hybrid technology in vehicles for urban use, in preparation for large scale marketing. This is one more step on a path which Iveco has been following concerning the development of solutions based on the parallel hybrid concept, which offers fuel savings of up to 30% in urban conditions.

Rounding off the display of Iveco’s technological excellence at the service of the urban environment, its stand also presents the Daily CNG with a new 3.0 litre multipoint injection natural gas-powered engine.

Off-road vehicles are another focal point on the Iveco stand, with special emphasis on the lighter range. Next to the recently launched Daily 4x4, designed to meet the needs of professionals in light transport, at RAI Iveco is presenting the world preview of the Massif, a genuine off-road work vehicle that echoes the design of off-road models.

The role that sponsorship plays in Iveco’s marketing strategy is also highlighted. As well as its role as sponsor of the All Blacks rugby team, the stand also celebrates Iveco’s activities as Official Supplier to the Ferrari Racing Team with the new Daily 40C15 and the new Stralis AS tractor with top-end diesel engine, the 560 HP Euro 5 Cursor 13, on display near the Ferrari F2007 currently competing in the F1 World Championships.

Also on show in Iveco’s 3,000 sq. metre stand are the new double cabin Daily and Eurocargo models, ideal for personnel transport, and the Trakker 6x6 with the Cursor 13 450 HP engine. Plus a 320 HP Active Day cabin Stralis with a four axle configuration, developed by Astra, the Iveco company specialized in quarry-construction site vehicles. It is equipped with a single drive axle and three steering axles, offering exceptional manoeuvrability for applications such as on road transport of building materials.

The European Road Transport Show (TERTS) is the leading international platform for the European commercial vehicle industry and road haulage industry. The show will take up all the exhibition halls of Amsterdam RAI and will be held from Friday 26 October to Saturday 3 November 2007. All leading manufacturers and distributors in the road transport sector will exhibit their latest products in Amsterdam to an international public. Besides trucks and delivery vans, TERTS 2007 will feature trailers, special vehicles, components, accessories, telematics and transport solutions. Important themes of the forthcoming edition will be telematics and sustainable transport solutions.

In 2005 the show attracted more international visitors than ever. The number was up by almost 30% and the visitors came from 55 countries. The 300-odd exhibitors at The European Road Transport Show 2005 came mainly from Europe, North and South America, South-East Asia and the Middle East. The number of new international registrations this year is impressive. There are at least 40 new exhibitors this year, hailing both from countries surrounding the Netherlands and as far afield as the US, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Spain and Sweden. The total covered floor surface has, accordingly, increased by 5% to more than 60,000 m2.

Another major benefit of TERTS is the fact that visitors receive in-depth information on special sub-sectors as well as a comprehensive overview of all lorries, light commercial vehicles, trailers and caravans, construction possibilities, components, and accessories. The international character of the exhibition and its importance for the city of Amsterdam is also emphasised by the presentation of a number of prestigious awards during the international press day that precedes the show itself. During a well-attended gathering, the juries for the Truck of the Year and Van of the Year awards will announce which brand and type will win the coveted titles for the following year. The jury members are expert journalists from all over Europe. TERTS itself also gives away a major trophy in the form of The European Road Transport Innovation Award to the exhibitor with the most eye-catching innovation in the field of vehicles, trailers & caravans, systems or components. TERTS’ main sponsor TVM will also be presenting the TVM Prevention Prize for the first time this year. The international transport insurer will award this title to the transport company that has achieved the most notable successes over the past year in each of TVM’s fields of activity, from health and safety to public order. The judges for this distinction will be Dutch Liberal Party parliamentarian Fred Teeven, the former State Secretary for Social Affairs, Elske ter Veld, and the managing director of TVM, Arjan Bos.
