Iveco’s
latest Daily range of light commercial vehicles has been
voted Van of the Year 2007 by What Van? magazine, the
largest dedicated van publication in the UK, read by
owners, operators and transport fleet managers. This
major accolade follows six months after Daily was
crowned Best Light Truck 2007 in the Van Fleet World
Honours, and sees the Van of the Year title return to
Iveco for the second time in three years.
Henk van Leuven,
Managing Director of Iveco UK, explains: “This award comes
just 12 months after the launch of the new Daily and is
particularly well deserved, having been won in a market
which has seen nearly every manufacturer launch new products
in the past 12 to 18 months. The fact that it is awarded by
a team comprising the most experienced light commercial
vehicle road testers in the industry highlights just how
strong our Daily range is, and confirms Iveco’s strengths as
a serious contender in the fleet and retail van markets,” he
adds.
The What Van?
Awards are held annually and see each vehicle scored against
a strict judging criteria which follow the main purchasing
decisions for van operators. This has seen the Daily
carefully assessed and scoring highly for its excellent
driveability, comfort, performance, handling, refinement,
safety, loadspace, economy, overall value for money and
nationwide dealer support.
Styled by
Italian design house Giugiaro, the Daily range extends to
over 2,500 possible configurations with models available
between 3.2 and 6.5 tonnes, ensuring there is a suitable
vehicle for the needs of every light commercial vehicle
operator. Daily can be specified with a choice of five
engines, a selection of different wheelbases and interior
heights, lengths, side and rear door configurations and
volume capacities – and includes the largest panel van
available on the market, offering an unrivalled load
carrying capacity of 17.2 m³. Amongst the most significant
features incorporated into the latest Daily range are
improved driver ergonomics and ease of movement across the
cabin, thanks to the dash-mounted gearshift, together with
an enhanced range of vehicle options including a hands-free
Bluetooth telephone kit, MP3 player, parking sensors and an
auxiliary heater with timer. New seats make Daily even more
comfortable and provide greater support, whilst the interior
is spacious and practical to manage thanks to the increased
amount of available storage space.
The Van of the
Year Award was presented to Nigel Emms, Iveco’s Director
Brand & Communication, during a presentation ceremony held
in London on November 28, 2007. Prices for a Daily start
from £20,000, with vehicles available to test drive at any
of Iveco’s 26 main distributors and 43 satellites across the
UK - many offering 24 hour opening for vehicle servicing.
