Mangoletsi, the UK’s largest
and longest-established Alfa Romeo dealership are pleased to
announce that the stylish new Alfa Spider convertible has
recently arrived at its Knutsford, Cheshire showroom, and is
already proving a hit. The new Alfa Spider is available for
immediate ordering and delivery, as well as for test drives.
The stylish and sporty new
Alfa Spider continues with a fabulous long tradition from
Alfa Romeo in building highly desirable convertible
sportscars, the name “Spider” is quite simply synomymous
with the Italian brand, evoking memories of stunning cars
that have captured the hearts of car buyers for more than
half a century. This latest model to bear the iconic tag
picks up the banner in the best possible fashion and arrives
exactly four decades after the first ‘Spider’ was launched
in 1966. The arrival in the UK of the
Alfa Spider completes the new ‘family’ model line-up, which
also comprises of the Alfa 159, 159 Sportwagon and Brera.
Since its glamorous launch at the Geneva Motor Show last
year, where it firmly captured the attention of the world’s
media and an attentive public, the Alfa Spider, which was
developed in conjunction with Pininfarina, just like the
original, has scooped the title of “Cabrio of the Year” and
become the European prestige convertible of choice.
“It’s simply gorgeous,” says
Mangoletsi’s Managing Director Fraser Hudson, “the new Alfa
Spider ably continues a long-standing and very fine
tradition, and for our many customers who have been weaned
on Alfa Romeo’s rich heritage of producing exciting
convertibles, it will be the logical next step. I also think
that with its superb looks, very accomplished chassis,
choice of powerful petrol and turbodiesel engines, oppulent
interiors and class-leading array of safety feature,s it
will quickly attract a swage of new admirers many who have
not considered the merits of the Italian brand before.”
“We’ve had the highly accomplished new Alfa Spider in the
showroom for several weeks now and interest has been high,”
says Mangoletsi Alfa Romeo Sales Specialist Craig Aspin.

"Knowledge of the model is very deep amongst potential
customers and we have already taken an impressive number of
orders, and we are now beginning deliveries," adds Craig.
"That a truly dramatic new award-winning convertible arrives
in the showroom around March and April, just as the weather
is improving and as we head towards the summertime, also
helps. It does focus the joys of a unique car like this, and
everything it is able to offer.”
The Alfa Spider is available with either the 185 bhp 2.2 or
260 bhp 3.2 V6 JTS petrol engines which both make use of
Alfa Romeo’s ‘Twin Phaser’ continious variator technology to
control the inlet and exhaust valves. The latter V6 unit
comes with the innovative Q4 permanent four-wheel-drive
Torsen transmission system and it dashes from 0-100 km/h in
just 7 seconds. Inside there is a choice of luxurious and
cosseting interiors and an array of the latest infotelematic
devices, while under the skin a quadrilateral front and a
multilink rear suspension arrangement means it offers superb
roadholding and chassis stability, all features working in
conjunction with class-leading safety features, including
ABS, EBD, VDC, ASR, MSR and Hill Holder.
“The Alfa Spider has a unique
place in automotive history,” adds Craig, “no other carmaker
can claim a convertible that as firmly embedded into the
myth and passion of Alfa Romeo as this car is; quite simply
who can ever forget Dustin Hoffman in ‘The Graduate’, the
film that shot the original Spider into global awareness
back in 1967?”
