Next Saturday
(31st March) the Hungarian Alfa Romeo 'community' Alfa Amore
will hold the seventh edition of their annual get together,
AlfaCity07. From 10AM more than 500 cars and 2,000
people are expected to gather for what is rapidly becoming
on of Central Europe's biggest international Alfa Romeo
owners' gathering.
Although it takes place in Hungary, AlfaCity07 will
gather Alfisti from several Eastern European
countries such as Serbian, Romania and Slovakia as well as
from nations further west, including Austria and Germany. A
truly cosmopolitan gathering of owners is in store next
weekend to celebrate a cosmopolitan marque.
Beautiful cars
always demand a beautiful setting and one of the meeting's
highlights is that it takes place in front of one of
Hungary’s most imposing and historically significant
churches', in Esztergom; rather than at a more traditional
venue such as an airfield or supermarket parking area. Every
year this splendid location offers an imposing background to
a very colourful programme; and this year, beside the
popular 'old timer' car show, a navigational 'treasure hunt'
competition will be arranged in Esztergom and in its
peripheral areas. The aim of this is that the Alfisti
will have to search Esztergom’s sights and have to answer a
number of posed questions. The little historical city near
Budapest will be turned into an 'Alfa City' for the day,
hence the reasoning behind for the event's new name,
AlfaCity07.

Last year the Hungarian national Alfa Romeo
importer, Fiat Auto Magyarország Kft., brought a
stunning black Alfa Brera to Esztergom fitted
with the new 3.2 V6 JTS engine and featuring rosso-beige leather. |

The Alfa Romeo meeting in Esztergom first started in 2001 as
a casual gathering with the participation of around only 25
cars. Nowadays this event is Hungary’s biggest car meeting,
and the national media has quickly taken note, reporting
from it several times. In 2003 Hungary’s authoritative
television car magazine “Totalcar” arrived and presented an
interesting report, as did the national television network,
Hungarian Television (MTV). In 2006, besides the return of
MTV, the international Duna television station presented a
report on its news programme. Besides the electronic media,
the leading newspapers and magazines also attend to inform
their readers too, such 24 óra, and the leading Hungarian
car magazine Auto Motor also pitches up. Last year the
Hungarian national Alfa Romeo importer, Fiat Auto Magyarország Kft.,
brought a stunning black Alfa Brera sports car to Esztergom, fitted
with the new 3.2 V6 JTS engine and featuring rosso-beige leather, which was the
real star of the show.
AlfaAmore, the internet-based Alfa Romeo owners' community
started life in 2004, and just three years later it has more
than 1,200 members, many of whom come from outside Hungary's
borders. The membership is very active, and since 2004 they
have posted more than 851,000 comments on the website. For
