Having
travelled more than 16,000 kilometres and through 9
countries since it set off from Nanjing a month ago as
part of the Overland expedition team, a Fiat 500 arrived
at the Bologna Motor Show on Wednesday.
The familiar orange Iveco trucks of Overland left the
Museum of Turin in the summer escorting the historic
Itala motor car which was retracing the legendary route
of the famous 1907 Peking-Paris race, exactly a century
later, this time tackling the route in a reverse
direction.
The tiniest
member of the Overland team, the 500, an orange-finished
75 CV 1.3 Multijet version, then left left Nanjing on
12th November
in the hands
of two veterans, Rocco Errico and Beppe Tenti,
to retrace the long, tortuous route across Asia and back
to Europe, China, Kazakistan, Russia, Belorussia,
Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and finally
Italy. |
