The new GranTurismo is
the star of the Geneva Motor Show, capturing the attention
of the public and media alike, and so,
not surprisingly therefore a number of illustrious guests
have stopped by the Maserati stand.
The latest
addition to the Trident family has been greeted by Luca di
Montezemolo (President of Fiat Group), John Elkann
(Vice-President of Fiat Group), Sergio Marchionne (CEO of
Fiat Group) and Roberto Ronchi (Maserati CEO). Also in
attendance were Andrea Pininfarina, the President and CEO of
Pininfarina, the firm who styled the new sports car as well
as the GranTurismo's chief designer, Jason Castriota.
Distinguished visitors to the Trident brand's stand include
several racing drivers who reached the pinnacles of their motor
sport disciplines: Frenchman Alain Prost (four times the F1 world champion),
and Scotsman Sir Jackie Stewart (who was three times F1 world
champion), as well as Maria Teresa De Filippis, who became
the first female Grand Prix driver, at the wheel of a
Maserati, and who is now the President of Maserati Club, and
Michael Bartels, the Vitaphone Racing Team pilot, who raced
to the 2006 FIA GT Championship drivers' title behind the
wheel of the Trident's latest track winner, MC12.

Almost a decade after its predecessor first appeared, the
new GranTurismo takes the Maserati Coupé theme forward with
aplomb, a worthy successor to the outgoing model, itself a
much admired, sleek and gorgeous sports car. Bigger and with
greater presence, and oozing Italian style, the
new car captures attention and commands respect, a genuine
and worthy alternative to offerings from brands such as
Aston Martin.
Two of the new Maserati GranTurismo sports cars are on show
in Geneva, one finished in silver and mounted on a large
revolving turntable, and a second one, this time a dark blue
example, is on static display for close-up examination. They
feature red and cream leather interiors respectively. The 4.2-litre V8 powered car
boasts a genuine 4-seat layout, which is highly luxurious,
and styling cues that evoke memories of famous models from Maserati's history.
