The overall concept
of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is defined as a a true performance oriented driving
sports car
obtained through an extreme sportive version of the Gallardo Coupé, which
eliminates
all the superfluous materials while the propulsion system has been completely
revised, including the addition of a new engine ECU, the adoption of a new light weight exhaust
system, and a new throttle body, changes which have been wrought in order to obtain more power and quicker
response to the accelerator.
The Gallardo Superleggera has been positioned as the top product in the
Gallardo model line, and with its 70 kg (154,35 lb) weight reduction it offers
the best power-to-weight (2.5 kg/PS) ratio of its main competitors, the Ferrari F430 and
Porsche GT3.
This fresh weight saving has been achieved through new powertrain parts, new
wheel rims, a transparent engine cover in CFK/Polycarbonate, a thickness reduction
of the front windscreen glass, a new rear spoiler and rear view mirrors made out
of CFK, a lightweight exhaust
and pipes, modified lower rear grilles, seats which come without electric
adjustment, door panels in CFK, manual folding door mirrors, and the multimedia system
removed (it is available only as an option).
A string of new
exterior changes help reduce the Gallardo Superleggera's
overall weight and give it a distinct and individual
appearance. The new features see the addition of a
transparent engine cover made out of Polycarbonate, modified
lower rear grille sections, new exhaust tail pipes, a new
design forged wheel rims (named Scorpius) on sport tyres
(Pirelli Pzero Corsa), darker rear light units and a
dedicated colours cheme in Nero Noctis. Coupled to these
changes is the use of weight-saving carbon fibre for the
engine cover, fixed rear spoiler, a new raised rear wing,
the slightly modified rear lower bumper, side sill covers,
and the rear view mirrors.
The Gallardo Superleggera will be available from next month in four different exterior colours
only; these are:
Midas Yellow, Borealis Orange, Telesto Gray and Noctis Black. All
four options come with a curving “Superleggera” side stripe in black,
the Scorpius wheels (with Pirelli Pzero Corsa tyres) which are
finished in titanium, and matching black front and rear brake callipers.
Inside four
different interior trims are available, related to the four
exterior colours options, with all interiors trimmed in a
special black Alcantara “Superleggera”: 1) Exterior Giallo
Midas – Interior: black Alcantara “Superleggera” on
dashboard/seats/roof lining; hexagon trim Giallo Taurus,
stiching Giallo Taurus, “Superleggera” embroidery Giallo
Taurus; 2) Exterior Arancio Borealis – Interior: black
Alcantara “Superleggera” on dashboard/seats/roof lining;

dashboard/seats/roof lining; hexagon trim Grigio, stiching

and 4) Exterior Nero Noctis – Interior: black Alcantara

embroidery Grigio Phoenix. On all versions the upper and
lower dashboard, as well as the A, B, and C pillars, and
sill covers, are trimmed in special black Alcantara
“Superleggera”, while the roof lining is trimmed in the same
black Alcantara “Superleggera” but combined with a hexagon
trim.

A suede leather steering wheel features as standard, while
the seats are trimmed in black Alcantara with the hexagon

optional "Interior Carbon Fibre Superleggera" package
extends the use of the lightweight material to the lower
section of the steering wheel, main instrument cover,
auxiliary instrument covers, handbrake lever, frame surround
for the air-conditioning unit, and the glovebox handle.
The car comes with Lamborghini's e-gear transmission option
as a standard fitment, although a manual gearbox can be
specified at no extra cost. Other standard features of the
Gallardo Superleggera include a lifting system, a specific
"Superleggera" sports suspension setup, an on-board computer
with lap timer function, tyre pressure monitors, heated
external door mirrors and a dedicated "Superleggera" branded
car cover. Optional, but at no extra cost (as removing some
of them from standard adds to the 100 kg weight reduction),
are the Scorpius titanium alloy wheels, a standard
suspension setup, the tyre repair kit and tool set. The
optional extras list also includes the raised "Superleggera"
rear wing, internal rear view camera, carbon-ceramic brakes,
