27.03.2007 DRAMATIC FILM BY SHELL HEADING FOR THE TV SCREENS

Celebrating 60 years of collaboration between Shell and Ferrari, the mighty 'Circuit' advert by Antoine Bardou Jacquet (Partizan) will be rolling out across the world's television screens. The month-long shoot saw Antoine and the team, led by producer David Stewart, travelling to Rome, Monaco, Rio, Sydney, New York and Hong Kong. The finally crossed the finish line at The Mill, London, where the film was post-produced.

The partnership of Shell and Enzo Ferrari in fact dates back to the 1930s. Shell was the logical choice to provide the fuels and lubricants when the first Ferraris were produced in the 1940s.  The two companies were partners from the dawn of Formula One. Since then, Ferrari and Shell have cemented one of the most successful technical partnerships in the history of the sport.

Shell and Ferrari established their current relationship in 1996, which ushered in one of the most successful periods in Ferrari’s long Formula One history.  Over the last decade, Shell made important contributions to one of the key factors behind Ferrari’s on-track success – reliability.  And, in 2005, Shell renewed its commitment to Formula One’s most successful team through to the end of 2010.

Although the Formula One World Championship was launched in 1950, it was to be one year before Ferrari celebrated its first victory. José Froilán González won at Silverstone in 1951 driving a Ferrari 375. From the beginning, Shell products contributed to Ferrari’s success of Ferrari by supplying the optimal fuels and lubricants to run at high speeds. Enzo Ferrari later summed up the long-standing partnership: 'The people at Shell were always aware of the great importance of the experience gained in motor racing, and that is why the company achieved such exceptional results.'

Not only does Shell develop V-Power and Helix for Scuderia Ferrari in Formula One, but it also provides full analytical services at every race. A team of Shell experts staffs the Shell Track Lab, a trackside laboratory embedded in the Ferrari team compound. The Shell Track Lab’s constant testing of fuel and oil in the Ferrari Formula One cars ensures that the drivers are able to get the best performance on the track. 

Off the track, the new Ferrari F2007 F1 car further demonstrates the pivotal role that Shell plays in Formula One.  Since May 2005, when the Ferrari development programme began, Shell engineers worked alongside Ferrari to gained a deep mutual understanding of the characteristics of the new generation of V8 engines and ensure that the design is optimised for performance and reliability.
