Michel Schumacher completed a second day of testing in the cockpit for Scuderia Ferrari at Jerez yesterday, the former F1 world champion wrapping up his second test in a month by trying out slick tyres aimed at the 2009 season.

Friday was the fourth and final day of testing this week for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro and most of its F1 rivals, with the teams working again at the circuit which is located in southern Spain. As well as Ferrari, teams in action yesterday included Williams, Honda, Toyota and the other Italian-based F1 outfit, Toro Rosso.

Schumacher was joined in testing duties by Felipe Massa and the pair took to the track on Friday, to conclude the programme begun over the past few days, which concentrated on the development of new 2008 electronic components. In addition, in the afternoon, Michael carried out tyre testing aimed at the 2009 season. The day in figures was as follows: 45 laps for Felipe, a best time 1.20.000, and 58 for Michael, the quickest in 1.19.136.

Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel set the pace at the front on Friday during what was the conclusion of 2007 Formula One testing. It was the end of a week that gave more than a nod towards the sport’s future, with several teams trying out potential 2009 set-ups, including slick tyres and reduced downforce levels.
