The 2007
World Finals got underway today at the Mugello
International Circuit. The day began with free practice
sessions for all the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy
series, (Italy, Europe and North America) and for the
Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge for historic Prancing
Horse cars.
In the afternoon, the starting grids were decided for
the first races in the Ferrari one-make series, using
the F430 cars. In the Italian series, Vito Postiglione
(Motor/Malucelli) came out quickest, while in the class
for gentlemen drivers, pole went to Giorgio Massazza (Rossocorsa.)
Top slot in the main category of the European series
went to Max Blancardi (Motor/Malucelli.) Plamen Kralev (Rossocorsa)
secured the best start position in the Shell Cup. Scott
Tucker (Boardwalk Ferrari) will be starting ahead of all
the field in race 1 of the North American series.
Over the weekend, the Tuscan circuit hosts the deciding
rounds of the championships organised by the Ferrari
Corse Clienti department, as well as the usual
additional race to crown the overall champion at
international level. There will also be an opportunity
to admire in action the single-seaters prepared by the
F1 Clienti department and the laboratory-cars which are
used in the exclusive "FXX Programme," for which future
plans will be announced here at Mugello.
The parade featuring Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, with
Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa and the whole team,
represents the key moment that brings the curtain down
on Sunday 28 October. Also scheduled is an on-track run
from the F430 GT cars that took Ferrari to victory in
the 2007 FIA GT2 Constructors' Cup and a parade of cars
that are truly representative of the past 60 years of
the Maranello marque's history, right up to the latest
430 Scuderia. |
