The Mugello
International Circuit hosted a packed programme of races
and demonstrations on this the third day of the 2007
Ferrari World Finals. Tomorrow, the event comes to a
close with a show from Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro which
will provide the opportunity for everyone to celebrate,
along with Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa and the whole
team, the recently conquered F1 World Championship
titles. It looks like being a very exciting day, also
thanks to demonstration runs by the single-seaters
prepared by the F1 Clienti department, which along with
the laboratory-cars of the "FXX Programme" were already
in action today. Among the runners on track in an FXX
will be none other than seven times world champion,
Michael Schumacher.
Completing the party, Sunday also features demonstration
runs from the F430 GT cars that have given Ferrari the
2007 FIA GT2 Constructors' Cup, as well as a parade of
the most significant cars in the history of the
Maranello marque, right up to the present day with the
new 430 Scuderia.
Today's race programme saw the titles decided in the
Italian and European series of the Ferrari Challenge
Pirelli Trophy. The Italian title went to Vito
Postiglione (Motor/Malucelli) who also won today's race.
In the Shell Cup, with Giorgio Massazza already crowned
champion yesterday, the win went to Nina Jeranic
(AC-Maranello Auto.) The final race victory of the
season in the main category for the European series went
to Henri Moser (Kessel Racing) with Michael Cullen (Rossocorsa)
assuring himself of the title. Victory among the
gentlemen drivers went to Switzerland's Lloyd La Marca (Stradale
Automobile) with the win on the day going to Michael
Cantillon (Ferrari GB Dealer Team.) Roberto Fata
(Ferrari of Long Island) repeated his first place finish
of yesterday in the North American Ferrari Challenge
Pirelli Trophy, in which Mike Zoi (Shelton Ferrari) is
champion.
The Mugello circuit has also been hosting the first
races in the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge, which is
also open to historic Maseratis. After these races, wins
went to the 1960 Ferrari 256 F1/FL, driven by Tony Smith
in the "A" category for single-seaters; the 1958 Ferrari
250 Testa Rossa driven by Carlos Monteverde in the "B"
class for sports and GT cars fitted with drum brakes and
the 1980 Ferrari 512 BB LM with Paul Knapfield at the
wheel in the "C" category for cars with disc brakes.
