Dallara the Italian based race car constructor and R&D facility has announced the appointment of Mr Andrea Pontremoli as their new Managing Director.

Mr Pontremoli will work very closely with the company President Mr Gian Paolo Dallara and will take over operational responsibility of the company in the coming months and also take a minority share holding. Andrea brings to Dallara considerable business experience and has a spectacular record in management of technology led companies. He joins Dallara from IBM Italia where he was President and CEO and had a career spanning 27 years.

Andrea's appointment comes at an important time for Dallara as the company expands further to meet the global demands of the flourishing range of projects being undertaken, particularly in the automotive consultancy business. He will re-organise and prepare the company for the challenges that lie ahead as continued investment takes place in both facilities and personnel.

Having been raised in Bardi in the province of Parma near Dallara, Andrea Pontremoli said, “Dallara is a company that I have always been interested in and long been impressed by and is today a world leader in the racecar automotive consultancy business. For me to become involved with them is like the realisation of an ambition and I look forward to the challenges it brings and to continuing the Dallara traditions of engineering excellence and customer support world wide. Dallara is a present a small company but with a massive reputation, it will be my objective to further enhance this hard won reputation whilst taking the company boldly forward into the 21st century with some exciting new projects and expansion plans.”

Dallara is based near Parma in Italy and was founded in 1972 by Dr Gian Paolo Dallara. The company has ‘state of the art’ design, development and manufacturing facilities and employs 150 staff. Principle activities are race car design and manufacture and aerodynamic and design consultancy to the automotive industry. Dallara has had a long and successful history in racing and currently supplies cars to the following series: Indy Car, Indy Pro Series, GP2, World Series by Renault and Formula 3 championships world wide.
