With cars having been flown over from the Arese Museum, Modena Alfa has presented the Scuderia Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina just ahead of its participation in the famous 1000 Millas Sport.

The exclusive sales representative of Alfa Romeo in Argentina and Uruguay, Modena Alfa S. A., presented during a cocktail party which took place on Wednesday 14th November at Modena Design, the Scuderia Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina.

Presenting the exhibition were Mr. Claudio San Pedro, General Director of Gruppo Modena and Modena Alfa, Daniel Claramunt, Sports Director of the Scuderia, and Luciano Viaro, the renowned Italian pilot who also drives for the Scuderia. Exhibited during the event were two models from the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese: an Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport 1928 and an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Le Mans 1931, both just arrived in the country in order to take part in the “Mil Millas Sport" in Argentina.

Modena Alfa S. A. was joined in the presentation by Cardón, which works with the Scuderia Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina, and by their local partners, Repsol YPF and Pirelli, with whom it has strategic agreements to benefit the users of the Alfa Romeo brand, through the provision of lubricant Elaión by Repsol, and of tires by Pirelli.

Modena Alfa S.A. is part of Gruppo Modena, the exclusive sales representative in Argentina for Ferrari and Maserati, yachts and cruisers from the Ferretti Group, Bell helicopters, the motorcycle brands MV Agusta, Cagiva and Husqvarna, air services company Modena Air Service and the gastronomic and cultural space Modena Design.

Automobilismo Storico Alfa Romeo 

They are very few automobile brands that could support a winning history so rich as that of Alfa Romeo. Since Tazio Nuvolari until Enzo Ferrari, passing through Fangio and Merosi, and thanks to designers such as Pininfarina, Zagato and Jano. Alfa Romeo has earned at least five world championships, 11 victories in the "Mille Miglia", 10 in the "Targa Florio", and 4 at "Le Mans".

This successful career has been and still produces an important historical and cultural heritage, made available to an impassioned and wide public at large through the “Automobilismo Storico Alfa Romeo”. Created in Italy to promote the traditional sporting spirit of this prestigious brand, it is a real and proper cultural centre that exposes cars and documentation, and it is directly involved in international events. During these occasions, the public can admire authentic models closely, which are still in operation, and which have been protagonists in historical careers.

In this context and with the aim of contributing to the development of Automobilismo Storico Alfa Romeo, Modena Alfa S.A, the exclusive sales representative of Alfa Romeo in Argentina, and Uruguay Modena Alfa S. A., formed in the middle of this year the Scuderia Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina.

By bringing together the best pilots of historic racing and those passionate about the brand such as Luciano Viaro, Daniel Claramunt and Claudio Scalise, the Scuderia Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina took its first steps with its participation in three stages of “Campeonato Argentino del ACA” and the “Triple Corona”, “Rally de la Montaña”, “Rally 100 Leguas Cardón”, and “Rally Aniversario Club Alfa Romeo”, achieving victory in the last two rounds with the crew Daniel Claramunt/Manuel Elicabe and Daniel Claramunt/Cristián Bertschi, on board of an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce 1961 in both cases.

Scuderia Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina" in the “1000 Millas Sport” of Argentina

From 21 to 25 November the XIX Edition of the "1000 Millas Sport”, the most important event for historic automobiles in South America, will take place. This is part of the “Triple Corona”, together with “Rally de la Bodegas” and “Rally de la Montaña”, all of them counting for points towards “Campeonato Argentino Sport Histórico del ACA”.

180 cars have been selected by the organization, from 15 countries, to take the start. Amongst them will be a broad range of twenty Alfa Romeo models, drawn from official and private collectors, which will make the Alfa Romeo brand one of the largest to take part in the event. The Scuderia Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina will participate with four models, an Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport 1928 and and Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Le Mans 1931, both of which were made available to the team by the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Arese.

1) Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport 1928, which won the 1928 "Mille Miglia" with the crew Campari/Ramponi. It will be driven by Luciano Viaro, who in addition to be part of the Scuderia Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina, has been an official pilot of Squadra Automobilismo Storico Museo Alfa Romeo since 2003. Twice winner of the "1000 Millas Argentina" (1999 and 2001), the “Festa Mille Miglia" in Japan (2004 and 2006), the “Mille Miglia Italia” (2005 and 2007), and the “Gran Premio Nuvolari” (2004 and 2005). Luciano Viaro is the only pilot who has won the various editions of the thousand mile races that are run on the three continents, and always on board of an Alfa Romeo. He will be together with the Argentinean pilot Juan Cruz Sanchez Mariño.

2) Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Le Mans 1931, driven by the pilot Tim Birkin, which won the mythical 24 Hours of Le Mans four consecutive times. The crew that will drive this car is composed by Daniel Claramunt, Sporting Director of Scuderia Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina, an official pilot of the Automobilissimo Storico Alfa Romeo in the “Mille Miglia” in 2004 and 2005, and the winner of “Gran Premio Nuvolari” (2002); alongside will the expert of the car collection, Maurizio Colpani.

3) Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport 1931 which won with Tazio Nuvolari the "Mille Miglia" in 1930 and 1931; it will be driven by Claudio Scalise, twice the winner of the “1000 Millas Argentinas” (2004 and 2005), “Gran Premio Nuvolari” (2002) and for four consecutive years the Argentinean championship “Sport Histórico” (2002 to 2005). He will be driving together with the experienced Argentinean pilot Gustavo Pecoroff.

4) Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider Veloce 1750 1969, mythical model that was produced by over 40 years by Pininfarina. It became an icon since Dustin Hoffman drove one in the film "The Graduated". Jorge Rendo composes the crew with your son Jorge.

The crews of the “Scudería Storica Alfa Romeo Argentina” are now ready to tackle the demanding and competitive conditions of the “1000 Miles Sport”, a test through the years presents innovative variations, within a tour of approximately 1,600 km along the roads and the most beautiful landscapes of Patagonia.
