The Fiat Rally Team's Fábio Dall'Agnol and Marcelo Dalmut, driving the new Fiat Palio Abarth 2008 in track action for the first time, won their first Brazilian Rally Championship title at the weekend while  Luís Tedesco and Bruno Mega also won their class.

The Fiat Rally Team's Fábio Dall'Agnol and Marcelo Dalmut, driving the new Fiat Palio 2008 in action for the first time, won their first Brazilian Rally Championship title after a battle at the weekend against Ulysses Bertholdo and Sidinei Broering of the Chevrolet Rally Team driving a Chevrolet Celta. Their first title was confirmed on the 2nd Rally Severiano de Almeida, the seventh and penultimate round of the championship which was held in the City of Severiano de Almeida in the south of Brazil. Dall'Agnol and Dalmut thus celebrate their first ever national title.

With an impressive five victories from seven events during the season, Fábio Dall'Agnol and Marcelo Dalmut debuted in the championship this weekend with the new Palio Abarth Rally with a victory that guaranteed a third consecutive title in the N2 category (1.6 engine, 4x2, limited preparation) for the Fiat Rally Team. "I am very happy of having claimed my first national title and I hope it will be the first of many," declared Dall'Agnol, the youngest pilot rallying this season.

For co-pilot Dalmut the title could not have been at a better occasion. “It is of enormous satisfaction to race in my hometown for the first time in the national championship and to be the winner in the presence of my family and friends," affirmed Dalmut, who was born in the city of Severiano de Almeida, which was hosting the seventh round of the Brazilian Rally Championship for the first time, a tough 112 kilometres of rallying over a mixture of soil and asphalt tracks.

The other crew of the Fiat Rally Team Luís Tedesco and Bruno Mega also won their class, the A6 category which is reserved for cars with 1.6-litre engines, 4x2 transmission but free levels of preparation. After testing the new car on the last round they were back in the familiar current Palio model. “It was a very hard fought and nervous race in all the senses but today we will celebrate Fábio (Dall'Agnol) and Marcelo’s (Dalmut) victory and with the flavour of a contest up to the last round as it is really in a rally-race," said reigning champion Tedesco, who is also the team's boss. The champion in A6 category will be known during the next and final round of this year's series to be held in the city of Campina Grande do Sul on December 8th.
