The Fiat Rally Team has received, for the second
consecutive year, the important prizes awarded by the CBA
(Brazilian Confederation of Motoring) for the titles won
last year by its crews in two classes: Luís Tedesco and
Bruno Mega came out on top once again in category A6, while Reinaldo Varela and Kz Morales were the winners in the
category N2, of the Brazilian National Rally
Championship. The prestigious prizes were handed over at
an awards ceremony which was held at the luxurious Hotel
Transamérica in São Paulo, and as well as honouring the
two Fiat factory crews, the CBA also rewarded the
champions of several national motorsporting categories,
who had won titles during 2006.
With six
victories out of the eight events that made up the
Brazilian Rally Championship last year in the category
A6 (which allows 1.6-litre engines, 4x2 traction, and
free preparation levels) Fiat pilot Luís Tedesco was
receiving his 14th trophy from CBA, an amazing record
for the country's most successful rally driver. Last
year was no different as Tedesco, with Bruno Mega in the
co-driver's seat, wrapped the title up with a round
remaining.
"I have seen over these years the evolution of rallying
and the great work that CBA does developing the growth
of the sport in the country. This recognition is an
honour and I still feel very excited to keep competing,"
affirmed Tedesco, he is looking for yet another title
this season, again with Mega alongside.

Meanwhile 2006 saw a double success for the Italian
brand as Reinaldo Varela and Kz Morales conquered their
second championship title for the Fiat rally team (this
time in the category N2 which calls for 1.6-litre
engines, 4x2 traction coupled to very limited
preparation) during the 2006 championship year. “We are
very happy and we conquered all titles that we have been
able to win with Fiat rally team, so we decided to leave
the younger pilots to work a little more in the
category," said the irreverent Varela, who is disputing
the 2007 season in the category N4.
The 2007 edition of the Brazilian Rally Championship
kicked off at the beginning of this month with the 11th Rally do Litoral in Santa
Catarina. Fiat claimed a victory as Fabio Dall Agnol and Marcelo Dalmut
began year with a win in the N2 category. Tedesco though
suffered mechanical problems but was able to finish third in
Class A6. The next round of the series takes place in the
city of Pomerode this coming weekend.
