Eoin Murray has confirmed his entry to the British Touring Car Championship for the coming
2007 season, the young Irishman set to be supported once again by arguscarhire.com and Reynolds logistics. Last year Murray proved he has the
skill and speed required to be a front runner but just lacked
financial support. This year he has confirmed a
package with his 2006 team Quest racing.
Murray proved his ability after winning the ultra
competitive European Alfa Challenge in 2005 and in the process won his current Alfa
156 Touring car at the championship prize. The fact that this car is built
to S2000 specification which the BTCC is
moving towards for the coming season should favour
Murray. “We have some experience of the car from last year and we were aware
of the updates my car needed for the UK tracks and Dunlop tyres. The front
running teams have now all gone to S2000 spec and it looks like it’s going
to be extremely competitive this year. I’m really excited to be involved and
I can’t wait to line up on the grid at Brands Hatch.”
As budget problems continued into
2007
for Murray, he explored all the options available but nothing could compare
with the value for money factor the BTCC offered “As things looked doubtful
to continue in the BTCC we considered other options but with viewing figures
of some 20 million people in 2006 nothing can compare," he comments.

"I have to thank
my sponsors and backers because racing in the BTCC this
year would not be possible without their support," concludes Murray.
There are in fact now less than two weeks to go until the
start of the 2007 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car
Championship at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent on Sunday 1
April. This will be the country’s first opportunity of 2007
to see the stars of Britain’s most popular four-wheeled
motor sport series in action and the event truly marks the
beginning of the UK’s major motor sport season. Big names
like Matt Neal, Jason Plato, Colin Turkington, Fabrizio
Giovanardi and Tom Chilton will all be hoping to kick-start
their championships with a winning start. But this year they
face a grid of some 26 drivers in seven different makes of
car; as well as the Alfa Romeo of Murray and two other
drivers who have announced they will also use the
N.Technology-built racer, BMW, Honda, Lexus, MG, SEAT and
Vauxhall will all be seen in action around Brands Hatch’s
short 1.2-mile Indy circuit.
