Alfa Romeo
has revealed images of the Alfa Spider Mille Miglia, an
exclusive limited edition version of the sports
convertible designed to commemorate the brand's 11
victories in the famous race, which is taking place at
the moment in its modern day re-enactment format.
The run of
these cars is limited to eleven units and each one is equipped with a silver
plaque mounted at the rear of the cockpit, numbered from
01/11 to 11/11, bearing details of one of the eleven victories won by
Alfa Romeo in the famous race between 1928 and 1947.
Immediately
distinguishable by the eye-catchingly bright exclusive body colour ‘Rosso 8C’
and a green ‘Quadrifoglio’ logo on white triangle on the wing, the Alfa Spider
Mille Miglia boast specially designed interiors that are
trimmed with fine black leather and with red
top-stitching, and that are equipped with the powerful
260 bhp 3.2 V6 engine and the Electronic Q2 system.
The new
special edition Alfa Spider Mille Miglia, which is be
based on the new 'Model Year 2008' car, is just one of a
whole string of initiatives by Alfa Romeo at year's Mille Miglia,
which includes the full range as well as the Alfa 8C
Spider in the 'sponsors paddock' in Brescia. Fiat Group
Automobiles has in fact entering its three brands, with
Abarth and Lancia joining Alfa
Romeo, in this historical re-enactment the assuming the role of joint presenting
sponsor. The ‘finest race in the world’ – as Enzo
Ferrari termed it, returns to the finish line in Brescia
tomorrow (17 May), after
crossing Italy and taking in the historical centres of
the some of the most lovely towns in Italy.
