German specialist high-performance Ferrari tuner Imola Racing, part of the Dimex Automotive Group, has created a highly muscular wide-body version of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti which also features a customised interior and is reputedly now tuned to give an extra 100 bhp.

With this extreme Ferrari 612 Scaglietti interpretation Imola Racing has expanded its range of tuned Maranello sports cars which already includes special versions of the 348, 456, Mondial, F355, 360 Modena and F430 Spider. Imola Racing is the Dimex Automotive Group's dedicated Ferrari tuning unit; other specialist performance divisions of the German company include Leo Nardo (Maserati), Dimex Jotabulls (Lamborghini), Royal Excellence (Aston Martin) and the forthcoming Jagline (Jaguar).

"To increase the pleasure of driving a Ferrari, one has to come up with something very special," say Imola Racing. "That's why the Imola-Racing engineers concentrate on enhancing the dynamic talents of the automobiles from Modena. The Imola Racing wide-body 612 Scaglietti features a wider track to fit bigger wheels and tyres to improve grip. To accommodate the new wheels and tyres the wheelarches have been extended with an air exit behind the front wheel arch and air intake in front of the rear wheel arch, while further appendages include side skirts, front spoiler, rear spoiler in carbon fibre and rear diffuser. No official word has been released by Imola Racing yet on whether the 5.7-litre V12 engine has received modifications. Inside the 612, the interior trimmings sees further luxury with upgrades including leather and carbon-fibre.
