The Fiat 500
will be a protagonist during Wrooom 2008 the
annual press-ski meeting to held by Scuderia Ferrari and
Ducati Corse at the Madonna di Campiglio ski resort this
week, and which has become the traditional opening event
in the calendar for the two leading Italian racing
teams, which compete in Formula 1 and MotoGP
respectively.
This year's event at Madonna di Campiglio (Trento) is
even more special for both teams as each is celebrating
a sweep of titles last year. Finn Kimi Raikkonen
sensationally wrapped up the F1 drivers' championship
during the final Grand Prix of the year in Brazil after
going into the race in third place in the points
standings, while Ferrari claimed the constructors' title
with more than double the points of its closest rival
(BMW), a contest that became a mere formality once the
McLaren-Mercedes team were excluded mid season.
Meanwhile
Australian youngster Casey Stoner raced to a comfortable
world riders' title on his first attempt with the
Italian factory team and Ducati made MotoGP history
after easily defeating its main Japanese rivals, Honda,
Suzuki and Yamaha in the manufacturers' championship.
At Wrooom
2008 the Fiat 500 will join in this celebration as
the two teams look forward to defending their titles
this year. On 9th January a special evening at the
'Chalet Fiat' will be dedicated to the 500.
In fact a
fleet of sixteen 500s will be used to ferry the
participants around the event all week long, while on
11th January the Car of the Year award winner
will take part in a 'Challenge Demonstration' when Kimi
Raikkonen along with Brazilian 2008 Scuderia Ferrari
team mate and official test drivers' Italian Luca Badoer
and Spaniard Marc Gené will all get behind the wheel of
the 500 in a special ice track laid out on the small
lake at Madonna di Campiglio.
