The Fiat Punto continues to win prestigious awards in Brazil, this time the readers of the respected Carro magazine have handed the new Betim-built supermini important awards in no less than three categories.

More than 10,000 votes were cast during the online voting carried out by the readers of Carro in a contest to choose the best cars of 2007, spread over ten different categories. And at the end of the voting process Fiat Automóveis' new Punto conquered three important prizes: Publicity, Cost-benefit and Compact Car.

The Brazilian built Punto has been a great success for Fiat since its release in Brazil and certain Latin American markets last autumn, and the B-segment model, which is already being built at production capacity and gathering up a decent order book, has since its launch collected more than ten important titles, among them Car of the Year of the magazine Auto Esporte; Best National Car, Top Car TV; Car Abiauto of the Year and Interamerican Car 2008 - FIPA.

The Punto, available in just 5-door format and with a range of Flex (dual petrol/alcohol fuel) engines, sets new technological standards in Latin America as it comes with the Fiat/Microsoft-developed Blue&Me system, the first time an advanced infotelematic package of this nature has been available in the region.
