Despite doom
and gloom about the economy, Fiat has recorded a record
sales month in April with the Italian marque scoring its
largest sales month since its Australian return in 2006
thanks to the new Fiat 500.
“Good though it
is to record a record month, if we could meet the demand for
the 500, we could have more than tripled our April result!”
says Edward Butler, the General Manager for Fiat cars in
Australia. “Australian demand for the Fiat 500, as in every
market in which this chic little car is sold, far outstrips
supply and we are taking orders now for delivery in four
month’s time – something that is probably unique in its
category!”
The success of
the Fiat 500 is inspired by the stylish, chic good looks of
the Fiat 500, which have inspired hundreds of thousands of
buyers around the world to fall in love with Fiat’s bambino,
and maintained by its five star EuroNCAP safety, high
equipment levels and its environmental ability, which
includes, in the form of the 1.3 JTD Turbo Diesel variant,
the most economical car in Australia.
“The Fiat 500 is
living proof that being good to the environment and driving
a safe car does not have to be a slow, basic, cramped
misery,” says Edward Butler. “The Fiat 500 is top of the
class for safety and the environment; it seats four people
and has a decent boot. Yet it is also a chic, stylish, great
fun to drive car that is a pleasure to own. The sales
figures prove that the new Fiat 500 really is the ideal car
for the 21st century!”
