Fiat has introduced onto the Italian market this weekend a new top-specification version of the Fiat Panda 4x4, which is the country's best-selling four wheel drive vehicle. The new Fiat Panda 4x4 Glam arrives in the showrooms at a time when the A-segment has toppled the Fiat Grande Punto off its long-term perch as Italy's best-selling car during several months of this year.

The Fiat Panda 4x4 Glam slots into the range as the most luxurious version of a model that combines off road capability with city sophistication, all squeezed into its small frame, and it becomes the latest in a long line of special limited-edition niche versions based on the robust five-door A-segment hatchback, including the 4x4 (and the 4x4 'Climbing' version), Alessi, Panda Panda, SUV, 100 HP and Mamy.

There have also been a series of individual show cars based on the Panda architecture, including the Panda Luxury (2006), which offered some of the ideas that are now drawn upon and rolled out onto the Panda 4x4 Glam, along with alternative fuel versions, including hydrogen and natural gas power.

Finished in an eye catch Bianco Perlato (pearl white) and fitted with stylish aluminium roof bars, a luxurious feel is conveyed by the new Panda 4x4 Glam. Externally the effects are completed by eye-catching 15-inch alloy wheels, while the door mirrors and door handles are also finished in the same pearl white body colour. Inside the personalisation is continued with 'Jeans' type materials use to cover the seats and door panels, while the air vents on the centre of the dashboard and switches for the climate control are finished with chrome-effect bezels.

The Fiat Panda 4x4 Glam, which seeks to offer plenty of 'urban chic', comes with a choice of two engines, either the 1.2 litre petrol unit with 60 CV or the 1.3 Multijet turbodiesel with 70 CV. The former version is priced at 14,800 euros in Italy while the latter will be on sale for 16,910 euros.
