Fiat
Automóveis was one of the biggest winners during the
2008 edition of the traditional Brazilian automotive
prize Prêmio Lótus which is awarded annually to
the best commercial vehicles in the country.
The Italian
brand conquered the top position in two important
categories: Light Van of the Year was captured by the
Fiat Fiorino, while the Van of the Year prize was
handed to the Fiat Ducato; both of the awards take into
account the number of sales each model achieves.
The Fiat Fiorino
claimed first place in Prêmio Lótus 2008 for
the thirteenth consecutive year, thanks to the impressive
16,193 units that the long-running van sold during 2007.
Meanwhile the Fiat Ducato was also the best seller in its
segment last year, with 3,044 units sold during 2007.
The Prêmio
Lótus awards have been organised annually for the last
15 years by the very well considered Brazilian magazine,
Frota & Cia. The 2008 edition award ceremony was
realised in the Latin America Memorial, which is located in
the city of São Paulo.
