The first
two months of 2008 saw new records being set in Brazil
for both vehicle production and sales on that market by Fiat Automóveis,
the Latin American automotive division of the Fiat
Group, significantly beating the volumes which were set during
the corresponding period last year.
The sales registered
by Fiat in the internal Brazilian market increased 37.3
percent year-on-year reaching 99,194 cars and light
commercial vehicles and keeping the brand holding
leadership of the Brazilian market with 25 percent of
all sales.
The total
production (internal sales and exports) of cars and light
commercial vehicles reached 122,623 vehicles during January
and February, which means a volume increase of 30 percent
over last year, when Fiat didn’t have a the third production
shift.
