Following the recent earthquake in China, the Fiat Group
immediately committed itself to providing substantial
financial, technical and humanitarian aid to the earthquake
victims. In agreement with the authorities and other
organizations managing recovery efforts in those areas
affected by the earthquake, Fiat Group - through its
companies present in China - has pledged a total of RMB 6
million (approximately €600,000) in cash, vehicles and
					materials.
					Iveco
donated one ambulance, through its associate Naveco, and
Saic Iveco donated five dump trucks. Other Iveco vehicles
were also made available to authorities for use in relief
					operations.
					CNH
brands have also made a contribution. Case Construction has
					donated a Case 695 four-wheel drive loader/backhoe to the
Chinese Army Air Force and has been providing technical
assistance and training. New Holland Construction has
donated a backhoe loader and New Holland Agriculture a
					tractor.
					Fiat
Powertrain Technologies has supplied 8 generator sets. For
its part, Fiat Group Automobiles will sell a Fiat 500 -
painted by artist Roger Pfund and currently on show at the
Today Art Museum in Beijing - at an auction and donate the
money raised. Additionally, Fiat Group employees have
launched fundraising initiatives to support earthquake
					victims.
					In
response to the devastation brought to Sichuan province by
the earthquake, Fiat Group wanted to make an immediate and
concrete contribution to relief efforts and offer tangible
support to strengthen the relationship between the Group and
the People’s Republic of China, where the Group has had a
presence for many years and whose current activities include
some 20 joint ventures, companies and representative
offices. Fiat began exporting cars and vehicles to China in
the early 1900’s and continued to do so until 1986 when its
export activities were complemented by local production,
beginning with Iveco and growing over the years to include
Magneti Marelli followed by activities of both Fiat Group
					Automobiles and CNH.
