In May, Fiat Auto Poland sold 2,850 new passenger cars on its home market, moving on to secure a market leading share of 10.9 percent.

Fiat Auto Poland's May sales break down into the individual brands as follows: the Fiat brand saw 2,764 vehicle sales to put it up 5.1 pct year-on-year, Alfa Romeo sold 60 of its sporty cars to put it down 25.9 pct compared to last May, while Lancia, with 26 units sold last month was up 73.3 pct on the same period last year.

As a result of these achieved sales, in May Fiat Auto Poland was the top-selling new-car brand in the country which is home to all production of the popular 500, 600 and Panda ranges, built at the Tychy factory, although almost all of these cars are destined for export. Also in May, Fiat Professional (Light Commercial Vehicles) sales reached a healthy 1,053 units, up 31.6 pct year-on-year, which means that the division held a market share topping 22 pct.

On a cumulative basis for the first five months of the year, Fiat Auto Poland sales now stand at 13,341 cars. This is made up of 13,042 units for the Fiat brand, putting it up 11.1 pct year-on-year, while of the two niche players in the Fiat Group Automobiles portfolio, Alfa Romeo, with 215 units, is down 29.5 pct, and Lancia, on 84 units, is up 20 pct. As a result, the Italian automaker has a market share of almost 9.5 for the year-to-date.

The Fiat Grande Punto, with 3,703 examples sold, is Fiat Auto Poland's best-selling car for the year-to-date, while the locally-build Panda model is fractionally behind it on 3,666 units. The third most popular car with Polish customers is the C-segment Bravo, with 1,849 unit sales.

Also in the January to May period, Fiat's LCV sales reached a combined 4,726 units, giving it a market share of 19.5 pct. As a result, Fiat Professional was Poland's market leader for new LCVs, its model demand led out by the Fiat Ducato, with 1,728 units.
