Batman will renew his association with Lamborghini in July when the crime fighter will be seen prowling the streets of Gotham City in a Murciélago LP640 (above seen during filming) in the latest episode of the blockbuster film franchise, The Dark Knight.

When he isn't protecting Gotham City from various villains in the Batmobile as his alter ego, Batman, billionaire Bruce Wayne's vehicle of choice is one of Lamborghini's sexiest super sports car ever built, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640. Bruce Wayne's newest Lamborghini can be first seen prowling the streets in The Dark Knight, and the movie's new, extended theatrical trailer shown in theatres May 2, 2008, prior to "Iron Man."

The Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Coupe is not Bruce Wayne's first Lamborghini. The association with the marquee began in 2005 when Propaganda Global Entertainment Marketing, Lamborghini's entertainment marketing firm for worldwide activities, brokered the deal for the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster to make its on-screen debut in "Batman Begins." In the film, Bruce Wayne can be seen driving the Lamborghini supercar to an exclusive party with two beautiful models in the passenger seat.

The Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Coupé appearing in The Dark Knight movie this summer is powered by a 640 horsepower 12-cylinder engine and is capable of more than 211 mph.

"The Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 is the natural choice for Bruce Wayne's other car," stated Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "Lamborghini is proud to be associated with one of the greatest movie franchises in history, especially co-starring with the night-bound Batmobile." The Dark Knight is set to be released in theatres worldwide on July 18, 2008.

Founded in 1963 and bought by Audi AG in 1998, Automobili Lamborghini is headquartered in Sant'Agata Bolognese, in North Eastern Italy and manufactures some of the world's most sought after supersports cars. With 34 dealerships in North America and 108 worldwide, Automobili Lamborghini has created a succession of dynamic and elegant super sports cars including the Miura, Islero, Urraco, Jalpa, Espada, Countach, Diablo, Murciélago LP640, Murcielago LP640 Roadster, Gallardo Coupe, Gallardo Spyder, Gallardo SE, Gallardo Superleggera, Reventon and the recently launched 2009 Gallardo LP560-4.

The follow-up to the action hit Batman Begins, The Dark Knight reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in his continuing war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organised crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker, who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante. Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger ("Brokeback Mountain") stars as arch-villain The Joker, and Aaron Eckhart plays District Attorney Harvey Dent. Maggie Gyllenhaal joins the cast in the role of Rachel Dawes. Returning from "Batman Begins" are Gary Oldman as Lieutenant Jim Gordon; Oscar winner Michael Caine ("The Cider House Rules") as Alfred; and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman ("Million Dollar Baby") as Lucius Fox.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Syncopy Production, a Christopher Nolan film, "The Dark Knight." Nolan directed the film from a screenplay written by Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. Charles Roven, Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan are the producers, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E.Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers. "The Dark Knight" is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.
