Making its
UK public debut this weekend is the new Lancia Delta
which is taking pride of place on the Lancia Motor Club
stand at the Classic Motor Show being held at the
National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, which opened
yesterday and is running until Sunday (16th November).
The twin turbo
Multijet turbodiesel Delta, in top of the range Platino
specification, will sit on the Lancia Motor Club's stand
along side two older Delta examples: a superbly restored
1988 Delta 1.3 LX, and a one-off Delta Integrale Evo Martini
5 Abarth car that was originally made specially for the
Agnelli family. Both cars are owned by LMC members.
Alan Temple of
the Lancia Motor Club said: “I was very fortunate to drive
three variants of the new Delta at the June 2008 press
launch in Turin. The twin turbo Multijet was a revelation
and is an excellent and stylish drivers’ car, in true Lancia
tradition. I was in Italy again a last week and it’s amazing
what presence this new Delta has on the road. It will be
interesting to see the reaction at the NEC when the British
public get their first chance to see this excellent new
Lancia for the 21st Century.”
Other Club
members’ rare cars on display on the LMC stand include a
1920s Lambda Limousine, an Appia Coupe from the 1950s, a
Fulvia 2c Berlina Saloon and a Fulvia Zagato Competizione
Coupe from the 1960s and 1970s. Lancia Motor Club UK is the World’s oldest and largest Lancia enthusiasts’ club,
which caters for all Lancisti from the past, present and future.
