Just a week after the Autodelta 159
J4 2.2 C received its world première in Amsterdam, the
brand new high performance sports saloon will make its
public dynamic driving debut at Belgium's legendary
Spa-Francorchamps race track on the occasion of Spa
Italia (28/29 June).
The new Autodelta 159 J4 2.2 C features a
specially-developed supercharger system including a Rotrex
C30-74 unit, new aluminium inlet manifold and bespoke
intercooler, which adds up to drive the Alfa 159 saloon to
power of 245 bhp and 290 Nm of torque coupled to upgrades in
the area of the transmission, chassis, brakes, electronics
and aerodynamics. It becomes the third member of the
exclusive J-series model range, joining the Brera J5 3.2 C
and Spider J6 3.2 C in our line-up.
The dramatic model is the result of an 18 month development
programme that has focused on supercharging Alfa Romeos
direct injection JTS engine, making Autodelta the only firm
in the world to apply forced induction principles to this
power unit. The overall package hones the Alfa 159 into a
true high performance saloon, pushing its dynamic abilities
forward in every area, but without compromising on its
comfort and ‘touring’ characteristics. Top speed is raised
to 165 mph, while 0-62 mph is achieved in 6.9 seconds.
Exclusive features of the 159 J4 2.2 C include 8.5x19 OZ
Botticelli Ultra Light alloy wheels, height adjustable coil
over dampers with bound and rebound settings, stainless
steel free flow dual silencer exhaust system, mechanical
limited slip differential, front, rear and side aerodynamic
kit, and perforated discs and new compound pads all round.
The order book is set to open on July 1st when full pricing
will be announced.
Spa Italia is one of Europe’s leading extravaganzas for
Italian automobile enthusiasts, and each year the event, now
in its 7th edition, attracts a wealth of fabulous cars from
every era of Alfa Romeo’s long history. Taking place
annually at the dramatic Spa-Franchorchamps circuit, which
nestles deep in the Ardennes forest in Belgium, it is the
perfect setting for any high performance machine to make its
dynamic driving debut. Highlights of Spa Italia include the
‘Concours d’Elegance’ which always attracts historic
masterpieces and that drivers can take their own cars out
onto the challenging race track.
Autodelta firmly believes that only the most demanding of
tests are good enough if the London based firm wants to
retain its position as the leading global aftermarket Alfa
Romeo design and tuning house, and as such our development
programme for the new breed of J-series cars has seen the
cars tested to the limit on leading European race tracks,
including the Nürburgring, Silverstone, Donington Park and
of course Spa-Francorchamps. The long time home of the
Belgium’s Formula 1 Grand prix, the historic Spa-Francorchamps
track, recently refurbished with a brand new pitlane
complex, is a superb test of any car with sporty
pretensions; and so we are delighted to show the full
production version of the Autodelta 159 J4 2.2 C on the
track for the first time.
Autodelta will have further models from its bespoke range in
action over the two day Spa Italia event (28/29 June)
including the Autodelta GT 3.7 Super Evo and two examples of
the Autodelta 147 3.7 GTA AM Super. Autodelta's Managing
Director Mr Jano Djelalian and the team will be on hand to
introduce the new car and explain our products and services
in general.
Jano Djelalian says: "Demonstrating the
J4 2.2 C at Spa-Francorchamps is a logical step for us as
the Spa Italia event is expertly organised and always
attracts a great many Italian car enthusiasts. This dynamic
debut builds straight on from the launch of the J4 2.2 C
last weekend in the Netherlands which went very well and I'm
delighted with the response of both the guests at the event,
and the wider response in general already. The JTS
supercharged demo cars were in action non stop during the
two day event and we had very receptive feedback as well as
having to start taking pre-orders. I must register my thanks
to our Dutch agent Sam van Lingen who organised the two day
event superbly, and made it a real success as well as an
enjoyable experience for all the guests.”
