CNH (Case
New Holland), a global leader in agricultural and
construction equipment and a Fiat Group company, is the
presenting sponsor of "Italian Style," a three-day
exposition -- Sept. 19-21 at Chicago's Navy Pier --
celebrating Italian fashion, design, technology, tourism
and cuisine. The event is organised by the
Italian-American Chamber of Commerce, Midwest.
CNH will display
more than 20 Case IH Agriculture, New Holland Agriculture,
Case Construction, New Holland Construction and Kobelco
state-of-the-art farm and earthmoving equipment. Case IH
will present its 210-horsepower Puma, a versatile tractor
used for planting and cultivating, pulling tillage and
loader work for hay or livestock operations; a
four-wheel-drive Case IH QuadTrac for big farming operations
to pull equipment; and the multitasking, rugged Case IH
Farmall C series utility tractors.
New Holland
Agriculture's BR7070 Round Baler gathers cut hay and forms
bales. Three tractors to be shown (T8010, TT45A and T2320
Boomer) are specifically designed for use on today's modern
farm, for first-time buyers and for landscapers or part-time
farmers.
From Case
Construction comes a variety of muscular equipment, from
1150K Series 3 Crawler Dozers that use a blade to push
material and Case 588G Forklifts for moving materials on a
job site to Case SV208 Vibratory Rollers that compact
underlying surfaces and Case CX160B Excavators used to dig
trenches for laying pipe or digging foundations.
New Holland
Construction will feature a powerful Kobelco 140SR Excavator
for digging trenches for sewer pipes or basements; a New
Holland W130B LR Wheel Loader used in sand and gravel
operations and road construction; a New Holland L185 Skid
Steer Loader for loading materials; and a New Holland B95B
Loader Backhoe that can in many instances take the place of
an excavator and a wheel loader.
Fiat Group also
will be well-represented at the event by an Alfa Romeo 8C,
which will be presented for the first time in its final and
clients version to the North American public; engines by
Fiat Powertrain Technologies, automotive systems and
components by Magneti Marelli, together with Ferrari and
Maserati luxury cars.
The new Alfa 8C
Competizione is a high-performance car that Alfa Romeo will
produce in a limited edition of 500, including just 84
destined to the North American market. Maximum engine
performance is 450bhp at 7000 rpm, with a peak torque of 470
Nm at 4750 rpm and top speed capacity at 7500 rpm. To any
gasoline-head reared on stories of classic Italian front-engined
GTs, this "speechless beauty" mercilessly pushed all the
buttons. It starts with a truly buxom body draped over
20-inch wheels. The interior's all carbon and aluminium and
lovely Italian leather. And the lightweight materials extend
to the structure -- an all-carbon load-bearing skin over a
steel punt. There is a red-blooded 450bhp Italian V8 up
front, and a six-speed paddle shift box in front of the rear
axle.
Ferrari, which
embodies exclusivity, innovative technology and high-level
performance, will provide expo visitors a close-up look at
599 GTB and F430 Spider. The 599 GTB is Ferrari's most
powerful V12-engined production car of all time. The 599 GTB
is a concentration of Ferrari's most innovative and
technologically advanced engineering solutions applied to a
mid-front engined two-seater coupé. The result is a new
benchmark for performance, driver involvement and design.
The Ferrari 599 GTB boasts class-leading power thanks to its
5,999cc V12 -- derived directly from the Enzo Ferrari
supercar -- which produces no less than 620hp at 7,600 rpm
for a weight/power ratio of just 2.6 kg per horsepower. The
unmistakable Pininfarina design gives the Ferrari 599 GTB
aggressive yet elegant lines which are perfectly integrated
with the advanced aerodynamic solutions adopted to reach the
performance figures attainable.
The drop-top
F430 Spider is the most popular Ferrari currently in
production. The car includes a number of important technical
features which give hints of the car's F1 pedigree, starting
with the innovative electronic differential -- first
developed by the racing division for the Scuderia's
all-conquering F1 cars which improves traction and
roadholding under all conditions. The F430 Spider's shape is
the result of lengthy testing and features a pronounced
nolder which is integrated into the end of the engine cover,
new bigger rear air intakes that emphasize the car's
muscular stance, and a new rear valance that incorporates a
diffuser of competition derivation.
Maserati is
proud to provide expo visitors an opportunity to preview a
model new for 2009, Maserati Quattroporte S. The dual soul
of Maserati as a car of equal measure elegance and sporting
capability finds its highest expression in the new
Quattroporte S, which is equipped with a brilliant 4.7 liter
V8 delivering a maximum power output of 433 hp at 7,000 rpm,
and an advanced 6-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to
Pininfarina's unrivalled and skilful hand, Quattroporte S
presents the most modern interpretation of the purposeful
line, elegance and exclusivity which characterize the
timeless style of Maserati. A new radiator grill with
vertical fins, larger sized headlights with an L-shaped band
of LEDs and a reshaped fascia create a purposeful and strong
stance. The side has also been transformed with a more
noticeable under-door moulding, while the rear-view mirrors
merge more smoothly into the design of the car's body. The
rear has also been sculpted with a more striking approach
with a stylistic link to the critically acclaimed Maserati
GranTurismo clearly reflected in the red outline of the
headlights, with a white central part. The interior of
Maseratis are renowned for a design clarity and sense of
occasion. The dashboard of the new Quattroporte S retains
its strong character and the center console has been
restyled to bring the controls closer together. This
considerably improves the ergonomics of the driving
position, also enhanced by reshaped seats, a sportier grip
for the steering wheel and a convenient storage compartment
located in the central tunnel. The Quattroporte S also
features an all new, state-of-the-art hard drive based
Entertainment and Navigation system.
In addition, FPT
-- Fiat Powertrain Technologies, which focuses on research,
development and production of engines and transmissions,
will showcase some of its state-of-the-art engines, which
well represent the extremely wide range of applications of
FPT products: C13 500 (marine applications), F32 MRS
(agricultural applications), C87 TE1D (power generations
applications), S30 ENT 4 and the brand new 1.8 GDI
(automotive applications). Born in March 2005, Fiat
Powertrain Technologies is the Fiat Group Company including
all the Powertrain activities previously carried on in Fiat
Group Automobiles, Iveco, Fiat Research Center and Elasis.
With its annual output of around 3,1 million engines and 2,5
million transmissions and axles, 20.000 employees, 15 plants
and 10 research centers in 7 countries, FPT is one of the
most significant players in the powertrain sector on a
worldwide basis.
Fiat Group's
Magneti Marelli, a world leader in automotive components,
will display headlamps of the Lancia Delta (with LED day
running light), Maserati GranTurismo and Alfa Romeo 159/Brera.
It also will show rear lamps of Alfa Romeo MiTo, Maserati
Quattroporte and BMW 7-series. In addition, the portable
navigation device and instrument cluster of Fiat 500 plus an
advanced instrument cluster of Ferrari 599, will be shown.
Founded by Fiat and the Ercole Marelli firm in 1919, the
business was acquired entirely by the Fiat Group in 1967.
Magneti Marelli is present in 16 countries and is committed
to creating innovative products which embody excellence and
focus on active and passive safety, and respect for the
environment.
The 2008 edition
of "Italian Style" follows the successful showcase organized
in September 2007 at Navy Pier's Crystal Gardens, which
attracted more than 70,000 visitors.
