Iveco has
been awarded the first AB Energy Efficiency Award, an
initiative of ABB SACE, a division of ABB SpA, leading
group in energy and automation technology. The award was
handed over at a ceremony held at Sesto S. Giovanni,
near Milan, at the ABB company headquarters.
The prestigious recognition identified the energy
efficiency initiatives made during 2007 by Iveco in its
production systems in the Brescia factory, the
production centre of the Eurocargo range of vehicles,
the new version of which is currently being presented to
the international press in Torino.
The energy efficiency interventions made amount to the
installation of high efficiency motors and inverters.
Don’t pollute, optimise the use of resources in design
and production and avoid waste – these are some of the
fundamental principles behind the Fiat Group World Class
Manufacturing programme to which Iveco complies and is
the driver behind Iveco’s actions in making the
necessary investments leading to the energy saving
initiative.
In the course of the last year and a half with the
support of its partner ABB, Iveco has brought to
fruition three important projects in its Brescia
factory. These amount to improvements in the testing
facility and in the painting plant resulting in a
reduction in power consumption of 1000 MWh/year. The
investment plan for the Brescia factory includes further
initiatives with the objective of saving a further 310
MWh/year.
