More official
images have emerged of Pagani's forthcoming and most extreme
version of the Zonda supercar yet. It will incorporate
lessons learnt from the new 'track only' Zonda R, and will
be dubbed the Zonda Cinque due to its very highly exclusive
five unit production run.
The track use
only Zonda R
production run will
be limited to just 10 units, it will cost around 1.2 million euros,
and in the search for ultimate track performance, the power
will rise to 750 bhp, a jump of 100 bhp over the current Zonda F
model,
while a major aerodynamic makeover will improve its ability
to glue itself to the race track. Although it was
originally scheduled to be unveiled in the autumn of last
year when it was announced at the Geneva Motor Show last
spring, the outrageous Zonda R hasn't appeared in public as
yet.
In the meantime
Automobili Pagani will use the lessons learnt from this
on-going extreme project and
apply them to a street-legal version of the Zonda R, to be dubbed the Zonda Cinque. Even more exclusive than the planned 10-unit Zonda
R, the Zonda Cinque's production will be limited to just
five units, hence the name.
The new Zonda Cinque,
which will cost around 800,000 euros, will receive a very
similar carbon-fibre body to the one scheduled for the Zonda
R, boasting a much improved aerodynamic package and new larger
air intakes developed to feed the more powerful AMG-tuned
Mercedes-Benz 7.3-litre V12 which will retain the track car's 750 bhp output. The 0 to 200 km/h dash will come in less than 10
seconds.
Pagani has
continually pushed the envelope of the Zonda model forward
since the supercar's debut back in 1999, and the Zonda
Cinque will be the final evolution on the theme before an
all-new contender, currently in the development stage, hits
the market. The Zonda F, which is the most extreme
interpretation to hit the roads yet, smashed the production
supercar record at the famous Nürburgring last year, and the
Zonda Cinque is set to be even more all-round dynamic.
The photos
reveal new air intakes in front of and directly above the
rear wheels, as well as a radiator intake sweeping the full
length the roof. Bigger brakes, new wheels, a revised engine
cover and large rear splitter feature. Inside, the Zonda
Cinque will get a stripped-out race-inspired interior. A
world debut at the Paris Mondial de l'Automobile in early
October is likely.
